Will my child have a snack time during the day?

Yes, your child will get two snack times during the day. One will be in the
morning and they will be allowed to drink water with this snack. Their
afternoon snack will consist of milk if you purchased it in the beginning of
the year. Student's are also welcome to bring a small healthy snack for
their second snack.

When and how do I pay for lunch tickets?

Lunch tickets can be purchased on Monday's for $10.00 and milk tickets can
be purcased for $2.50. One tickets will buy yor child 5 days of lunches or
milks. When sending in money at anytime, whether it is cash, or check,
please place it in a sealed envelope with your child's first and last name,
as well as a note indicating precisely what you would like to purcase with
that money. EX: 2 milk tickets and 1 lunch ticket, or Scholastic Book Order.

What are milk tickets really for?

When you purchase a milk ticket for $2.50 your child will receive a ticket
good for 5 milks. These milks can only be purcased and used if your child is
taking cold lunch and needs something to drink with their lunch. You can not
use these tickets for their afternoon lunch, as a separate milk program must
be paid for in the office for that. Milk is always included in the price of
a hot lunch ticket, therefore, if you purcahsed a hot lunch ticket, you
don't have to purcase a seprarte ticket for their hot lunch milk.

Can I call you during the day?

You are more than welcome to call me during the day, however you will be
directed to my phones voicemail. I will try to check during the day if I
have available free time. Otherwise, I usually check voicemail before and
after school. If there is an emergency, or a change in your child's pick-up
schedule please contact Ann in the office. She will get me the message.

Do you want to know if my child is going home using an alternate way?

Please, please, please send a note a day before or that morning, if you know
your child is going to go home a way they normally wouldn't go. If I don't
receive a note I am required by the school to send your child home on their
usual schedule. For example, if you know grandma is picking your child up
after school, I must receive a note or phone call stating that, or they will
be sent home the usual way.

How should I pay for Scholastic Book orders?

If you are ordering from the Scholastic Book Clubs, please do not send cash!
If you send cash I will not be able to process your order. You may combine
multiple orders onto one check. Please make the check payable to Scholastic
Books for the total amount of all your book orders. Please double-check your
adding!

What are sight words anyway?

Each week our class will be discussing and learning about a new list of sight
words. Sight words are words that appear frequently when you are reading.
These words are generally short words, or words that you are unable to sounds
out. Sight words are words that are best when you just memorize what they say,
so you don't have to sound them out each time you read them. For example:
"the" is a sight word, because it occurs frequently in reading and you should
just know what it says when you get to it, to help you become a more fluent
reader.

How do we record chapter books on our book logs?

For a chapter book on your book log, you only have to record the title and
author one time. For every night your child reads from that chapter book, they
only have to put a tally mark behind the title, indicating they read the same
book more than one night. Same goes for smaller books, if your child wants to
read it more than once.
