I grew up on a 240 acre dairy farm in the small Wisconsin town of Rudolph. I
had five sisters and two brothers. Our family all worked together, played
together and prayed together. I attended Catholic schools from first grade
through high school. I moved to Menomonie, October 18, 1982. My husband is
Denny and we have three children; Katie, an ELL teacher in the Eau Claire
School district; Noah, a mechanical engineer in Duluth and Tony, a graduate
of Wyotech living here in Menomonie. I enjoy gardening, sewing and reading.
I am active in Wisconsin Catholic Librarian Association, 4-H, Order of the
Arrow and volunteer in our parish in numerous ways.
I believe the opportunity to attend a Catholic school opens the door to hands
on learning about sharing, sacrifice, and putting the other person first. It
can reinforce the lessons being taught at home by opinion and by examples if
the home environment focuses on Christian values. To often people think
sending a child to a private school takes care of a variety of obligations
for them. A private school is another tool that can be used to keep a balance
between our personal beliefs and a society that promotes a great deal of
selfishness.
Teaching in a Catholic school is an opportunity I enjoy. Promoting Jesus’
teachings in and outside of my classroom challenges students and myself to
increase our knowledge of Catholic teachings and focus on setting good
examples each day. Often as adults we find ourselves in an environment where
many choose not to work and lead by Christian examples. Fortunately, in St.
Joseph Parish and the Menomonie community, I have many opportunities to
continue sharing, sacrificing and putting the other person first. I enjoy
sharing my values and beliefs in the Catholic faith with those around me.
St. Joseph School, serving children preschool through sixth grade, strives
for spiritual, academic, physical, and social excellence within the framework
of God, family, and community through Catholic teaching and devotion.
