Welcome to second grade! My name is Laurie Merk. I have been a member
of the St. Roman school faculty for 13 years. I have made my "home" in
second grade for all 13 of those years.
I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I am licensed
to teach grades 1-6, but somehow find myself teaching and "loving" second
grade. I continue to take college classes each summer to keep myself
updated on constantly changing teaching methods.
Immediately following my college graduation, I taught second grade at
Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (now called St. Martin of Tours) in Franklin,
Wisconsin. My stay there was nine years. I resigned my position there so
that I could be at home with my first baby.
I have two sons that attended St. Roman School. My oldest son, Wes,
is attending the University of Wis-Oshkosh majoring in international
business. My youngest son, Jacob, is a senior at Greendale High School.
My husband, Ken, is the CEO of a German machine tool company home based in
Germany and visits their quite frequently.
When I am not attending a GHS sporting event, I enjoy reading,
scrapbooking, making jewelrey, walking, going up north to our cabin in
Westfield, and spending time with my family. I also walk our Brittany 3 miles
a day in Greenfield. Maybe you've seen me?
Teaching is a "love" of mine. Thank you for entrusting me with "your"
love---your child.
At St. Roman School...
We learn to live together peacefully, using Jesus as our example.
We pray together, share, and help each other grow.
We respect each other, and accept our many differences, because we are all
special.
