This holiday weekend, make a point of safely and positively enhancing your Halloween fun with these helpful tips from FlagHouse Sports:

Outside for a Power Walk

Halloween is a terrific opportunity to get out into the fresh air and power walk. Lift and hold your arms up, swinging them at your sides as you take large strides. Breathe deeply and keep your shoulders back.Make sure that children are always accompanied by a responsible grownup and bring a flashlight with extra batteries for after the sun goes down. For added safety, visit only the houses of neighbors you know and wear light colors.

Substitute Sugary Treats with Healthy Alternatives!
We all love to munch on our favorite candies, but too much candy can be bad for teeth and tough on a trim waistline. Instead of giving out candy at your door, give out healthy yet fun alternatives. Try scented pencils and pens, stickers, Mardi Gras beads, pinwheels, small stuffed plush toys, curly straws, or other small party favors. These items are readily available at party stores and even some local supermarkets.

Develop a Healthy Eating Plan!
Parents can monitor their child's candy intake by putting the candy out of sight in a cupboard and by dispensing it only at the end of nutritious meals. Give out a piece of candy as a reward for making healthy food choices during meals.
Try dressing up fruits and vegetables to make them as fun to eat as candy: sprinkle a little cinnamon and brown sugar on apples or dip celery in creamy peanut butter. Make the candy last for several weeks so that it continues to be something to look forward to as well as a helpful tool for developing a healthy eating regimen. Remember to avoid eating sugary treats right before bed because sugar can make it difficult to sleep. A good night's sleep is as essential to a healthy body as good food and exercise

Welcome to St.Roman's Physical Education Program

Physical Education at St. Roman Parish School consists of fitness skills, movement activities, games, dance, and gymnastics. The focus for primary level students is to teach skills in a safe, secure, positive environment. Each skill that is taught can be performed at different levels of difficulty and with varying degrees of quality. Intermediate and Middle Physical Education classes give students a chance to refine skills, learn new skills and use them in dynmaic situations such as games and sports. Classes include fitness and/or motor movement activities. These activities provide fitness and movement components that include flexibility, cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular endurance, strength, speed, reaction time, agility, locomotor and non-locomotor movement. The main lesson focus follows which includes skill practice, a game or a movement activity based on the current unit of study.

Your child’s progress is evaluated through skills and learning experiences and is designed to meet the grade level Standards and Benchmarks according to the St. Roman Physical Eduation Curriculum which is aligned with the Wisconsin State Physical Education Standards.
