Teaching in a classroom is actually my second career. After receiving my BFA
in art from UW-Milwaukee, I worked in a variety of educational settings from
nature centers to art galleries. Eventually I was involved at the college
level with programming out of classroom learning experiences for students.
Although this was in the field of education, I felt too distant from the
learners. I went back to school and got my certification to teach grades 1-6.
I love being in the classroom and wonder why I hadn't done it sooner. My
art background has given me a visual language that I try to share with my
students. This is my eleventh year at St. Roman School where I have taught
first and fourth grades and I have also been a math/science specialist.
