Yes, students are required to read 250 pages or more per month from October through the end of March. Each student receives a pizza slip from Pizza Hut each month they reach their goal. This program strengthens reading skills and allows students to read books and magazines of their own interest. We are trying to reach the goal of a final pizza party in May. Please remind your child to read in any free time they may have. Thanks! When is the Stations of the Cross presentation ? The fourth grade will perform this special play about Jesus at 2 performances on March 26th: 1:00 PM and 7:00PM. Is there homework on the weekends? Most likely there will be some type of homework on the weekends. Studying is always needed in order to excel. Should the assignment notebook be checked every night? Yes, the assignment notebook should be checked nightly, even on the weekends and over a vacation. Do I need to send a note when my child has been absent? We are required to keep notes on file for absences and doctor/dentist appointments. How long does my child have to complete work from his absence? Your child has 1-2 days to make up the work for each day that they are absent. Should I send a snack every day? Please send a nutritious snack for your child to enjoy every day. It provides a burst of energy for them and keeps them going throughout the morning. I recommend not sending cookies, cupcakes, brownies or candy as a snack, however this is fine as a birthday or SuperKid treat. Just a reminder that we do have a student allergic to peanuts and peanut butter in class. Thanks for your understanding. Will you celebrate my child's birthday in class? Yes, please send a treat for 28 people. Summer birthdays may choose a day to celebrate their special day. How often should I review notes/ definitions with my child? Students should bring home science, social studies, and math notes at least once per week. Please remind your child to do this. When will students be writing totally in cursive? Cursive will be expected on almost everything by January. They may do notes in cursive or printing. No, however my students love to read! They can earn a free Great America ticket just for reading 6 hours! Students are allowed to record the same books for this program as they do for Book-It, |
