Introduction

The earth's biomes are the deserts, tundra, grasslands, forests, and aquatic
regions of the earth. Each biome has a different climate as well as unique
animals and plants. 
In this WebQuest you will learn about the aquatic biomes. You will have the
opportunity to view a variety of Internet sites about the freshwater and
marine biomes. You will then complete a hands-on activity related to the
aquatic biomes.

Standards & Objectives:
This Webquest is aligned with the California Grade 3 Life Sciences standard 3b:
Adaptations in physical structure or behavior may improve an organism's chance
for survival. As a basis for understanding this concept:
b. Students know examples of diverse life forms in different environments,
such as oceans, deserts, tundra, forests, grasslands, and wetlands.

After completing this WebQuest, students will be able to:
*Define freshwater and marine. 
*Compare and contrast the various types of aquatic biomes.
*Describe the temperatures of various aquatic regions as well as their
locations around the world.
*Analyze characteristics of each aquatic biome.
*Discuss types of plants and animals who live in the aquatic regions.
*Evaluate threats to the aquatic biomes and possible ways humans can help
prevent these threats.
