You will use the Internet sites provided (click on the Links tab to view the sites) to study the types of grasslands, the animals who live there, the climate, and where this biome is located around the world. You will use the information you gather to answer questions as well as to complete a hands-on lab activity that can be found in the Process section of this WebQuest. **Please note, you will need seven days to complete the hands-on project from the Process section of the WebQuest so be sure to give yourself enough time.** Go to the Process section of the WebQuest now so you can set up the experiment and then return to this page. You should plan on taking two to three days to read through the Internet sites and take notes as needed and then one day to answer the questions. You can answer the first seven questions before the end of the week. The remaining two questions are related to the hands-on lab so you will need to wait until the end of the week to answer those. Remember to go back into the Biomes blog to answer the questions using the Comments option. Questions to answer: Click on the Links tab above to answer the first seven questions. 1) Name the different types of grasslands. Choose two and then tell where they are located as well as some animals and plants that live in your chosen grasslands. 2) Where could you find trees in a grassland? Why do you think more trees do not grow in these areas? 3) Describe the soil you would find in a grassland area. Write one or two sentences to answer this question. 4) On average, how much rain do grasslands receive per year? 5) Write at least two sentences to compare and contrast the savanna and the temperate grasslands. 6) What are some threats to the grasslands? How do you think people can help protect the grassland biomes? 7) In your own words, describe why the grasslands may be referred to as the grassland biomes instead of the grassland biome. Write at least two sentences. Answer the following two questions after you have completed the hands-on activity: 8) What part of the stem do grasses grow from? How does this make them different from other plants? 9) How does this growth adaptation help grasses survive?
