1) SORT
Now that you have made your careful observations it is time to analyze the
samples more closely. You will sort the samples by one set of properties and
then you will sort those groups by a second property. BE ORGANIZED! Create a
chart to help you keep track of which pile is what. Talk to your team about
each sample! Confirm that you all agree with what is in the pile.
Here are some properties you might sort by:
Luster/Transparency, Color patterns/ calcite, Texture/hardness,
Color/ hardness, Color/texture, calcite/transparency, weight/texture,
weight/circumference
2) COLLECT DATA
How many do you have in each category?
3)GRAPH
Create a graph of the data. You may use the CREATE A GRAPH website to color in
or you may hand draw you bar graph. Make sure you label your x and y axis and
include a title.
4)LEARN
Use the graph to make further observation statements about the samples.
Write down as much information as your team can learn from looking at the graph.
YOU MAY SORT AND GRAPH AS MANY TIMES AS YOU LIKE TO GATHER MORE DATA! | |
