Preparing for a Potlatch

Top Divider

Role1

Food Experts

Food experts are responsible for collecting all the information they can about
the eating habits of the Coastal People. What did they eat for regular meals?
What did they eat on special occasions? How did they get their food? How did
they prepare their food? Who prepared the food? How was food served? Who
hunted? Who gathered? Other interesting facts about Northwest Coastal People's
food?

Along with answering these questions you need to prepare a list by Friday of
foods they ate that we can still find in Washington. This list will be sent
home on Friday so that students and parents can decide what to bring to the
potlatch.

On the day of the potlatch you will be responsible for serving the food and
explaining to the group what you've learned.

Other Resources

Just because this is a WebQuest doesn't mean that the students should be
limited to using
the web for resources. Think of other resources for this role or perspective and list
