What has four legs and hops?
As the herpetologist please read this poem.
When you've completed the poem, do what comes next!
ENTER THIS DESERTED HOUSE
by Shel Silverstein
Where the Sidewalk Ends, p. 56
ENTER THIS DESERTED HOUSE
But please walk softly as you do.
Frogs dwell here and crickets too.
Ain't no ceiling, only blue
Jays dwell here and sunbeams too.
Floors are flowers - take a few.
Ferns grow here and daisies too.
Whoosh, swoosh - too-whit, too-woo.
Bats dwell here and hoot owls too.
Ha-ha-ha, hee-hee, hoo-hoooo,
Gnomes dwell here and goblins too.
And my child, I thought you knew
I dwell here...and so do you.
Now that your poem is done,
its time to have a little fun!
Herpetologist
Tell us what a herpetologist does. It is your job to explore the world
of frogs. Let us know about the biggest frog in North America? What
types of habitats do frogs live in? Do crocodiles eat frogs? Do frogs
have teeth? What are the differences between a new "born" frog and an
adult frog. Could Dr. Derham fit in a frogs mouth?
