Introduction

Welcome to Africa's Past----and Present too!

For the next  few weeks, you will be doing your own research to discover some of Africa's most amazing history. Once called "The Dark Continent" because people didn't know about or understand its history and geography, we are hopeful that you will be able to learn about its ancient past, its near past,
and its present times as well!
We hope you will meet the people of Africa, or learn about
the more than 800 languages spoken here! Will you study the food of a region?  The stories and the cultures? Or perhaps you will focus on how something changed because of the Europeans. We also hope that you become aware of how changes in Africa now will affect you as you grow older and possibly travel there.

In this webquest, you will create a final project that tells about the people of Africa, their customs, and their history. You will look at who they were before, how their lives changed when the Europeans discovered Africa, and what their lives are like now. You will also report about the geography, the climate, the animals, and the cultures of the places you will go. Along the way, you will play some games and carefully plan how you want to complete your final project.

Have fun! Get to know the Africa of yesterday and today!
