Mrs. Van Horn
Dear Parents and Guardians,
My name is Mrs. VanHorn and I am excited to be your students new physical education teacher here at Steenrod Elementary. Between two schools I am doing my best to learn over 400 new faces and names so please do introduce yourself, maybe twice!
In my gym class your childs safety is very important. In order to prevent injuries and accidents we start by wearing the proper attire. Students should be wearing comfortable clothing, preferably stretch material. Shoes should be well fitting, with good arch support and tying laces, Velcro or zippers. Please no loose lace skater shoes, they tend to fly off during kicking and running activities.
If your child cannot participate in gym due to illness or injury, please send a signed note listing the students first and last name, students classroom teacher, and reason and dates for nonparticipation.
FYI
In the gymnasium we added a bulletin board in which will display themes for fitness and good health. This month we have on display photos of staff members and how they stay active over the last few months. I would like to replace the staff photos with students photos showing us how they choose to stay active out of school. If you would like to bring in a photo be sure to write your first and last name on the back and classroom teacher and I will be sure to return the pictures to their owners.
The Golden Sneaker Award
At the end of each month there will be an award presented to the classroom that has best exhibited all six distinguished qualities listed below.
