W.V. State Notebook |

We will do an unit on West Virginia. Each student will do a West Virginia notebook. It is from the ABeka curriculum. Most of the work on the notebook will have to be done at home. I will use class time for teaching (West Virginia History) and other activites. It is very important that you help keep your child up-to-date. I will check weekly to see if they have completed the assignments. Each child needs: 1" binder and sheet protectors (approx. 40). Many pictures and information can be found on the internet.(see below) Write to WV department of tourism or other agencies for pictures. If you are by one of the W.V. welcome centers, this is a good place to pick up some brochures. More information will be given to you when we begin the unit. I will give a calendar and check list as to when pages are due. There will also be 3 or 4 quizzes.
WEST VIRGINIA HISTORY NOTEBOOK DIRECTIONS 1. ALL PAGES MUST BE PUT IN SHEET PROTECTORS AND THEN IN A BINDER. 2. USE AN ERASABLE BLUE OR BLACK INK PEN. DO NOT USE PENCIL. 3. I will be giving you pages in class that will also need to be put in the binder. (points will be taken off for any missing pages!!!!!) 4. Let me know if you are having any problems finding materials. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST DAY TO LET ME KNOW THAT YOU ARE MISSING PAGES. 5. On the due dates, I will collect the Notebook and check to see if all pages are complete. Points will be deducted if there are pages missing. 6. You may work on your state notebook in school when you have finished other work. You may have time to work during Band. That means to bring things to class that you might need to use.(pictures, your erasable pen, scissors, glue sticks)
APPROXIMATE TIMELINE SECTION ONE: DUE APRIL 7(PAGES 1-17, 33-35, 55 DUE) notice that the back are numbered also. It is not as many pages as you think. For example the pgs. 2,4,6,8 are blank. PAGES 1-5 do yourself I will give you maps for pages 7 and 9 page 11 do yourself I will give you a copy of the State song to paste on pg. 13 page 15-17 do yourself (I will give you a copy of the seal and flag) pages 33and 35 we will do together in class page 55 we will fill in the blanks together in class, but you must get a picture. SECTION TWO DUE APRIL 14(pages 19-25, 37, 63-67 due) This week you have more writing to do. Do a little each evening. Do not wait until Thursday night to get this done pages 63, 65, AND 67 do yourself page 37 do yourself. You keep track of the weather this week and fill out the top section. We will do the Temp. High and lows for each month together in class. page 21 do yourself--be sure to complete each part. page 23 and 25 page 19 do yourself SECTION THREE DUE APRIL 21 (PAGES 27-31, 39, 41-49 DUE) page 27 and 29 do yourself page 39 and 43 I will give you maps to glue on this page page 41 do yourself--use W.V.
