I am a proud AJHS grad and love working at my alma-mater. I have earned
my BA in Special Education & MA in Educational Administration. I truly love
Career Foundation and enjoy working with freshmen; it is exciting to assist
students in looking at choices for their future and developing a plan to
achieve success. The changes that individuals make in their four years in
high school never cease to amaze me, watching them walk across the graduation
stage and head into a bright future is “priceless”.
I am the mother of two beautiful girls, Ryle 7 and Haley 5. Both the
girls and my husband keep me very busy outside of school. I am the former
AJHS volleyball coach and still love to cheer on the team and play whenever I
can! I love to work-out and have run two marathons and am looking to take on
another.
Career Foundations is a required course which explores the high school
culture, technology applications, and workplace principles. The class will
facilitate personal growth in identifying and accepting responsibility,
relating effectively, development of self-concept, problem-solving and goal-
setting techniques, and following school procedure and policies. Students
will explore career options in alignment with interest profile and skills
assessment. In addition, students will examine and develop workplace skills
universal to all occupations: leadership, teamwork, legal and ethical
responsibility, safety, finance, technology, and effective communication.
These principles will assist in the development of both educational and
professional goals, allowing students to prepare for the utilization of
opportunities in and beyond high school.
