Reformation - Change in Religious thinking and duty as it is connected to governing nations.

Is Reformation possible in modern times? Is it a period piece or historical moment like the Industrial Revolution?

If we had to start over in this world due to a complete collapse of our economies or warfare or mother nature, do you think Religion would play the same significant influence as it did during ancient times, medieval times and on into the 19th century?

I believe that historical movements, change and advances are only successful if the human spirit has faith in something, whatever that be. It seems reasonable to assume that religion
and science both are necessary in rebuilding our modern world.

I dont know if reformation is possible right now cause unfortunately there are people that arent religious. i think that if we had to start over as a world due to collapse that religion would not play as much significance as the 19th century

i dont think that reformation would play a significant role if the world collapsed today. i do think tho that we need science and religion in the world as long as the science part doesnt over rule the religion..

I think that there could not be a change in religion because everybody is stubborn and there are not really anymore opinions that could be created about our reason of being on earth that is still realistic. If there was a huge natural disaster that wiped across the world and caused a lot of death and damage, some people would start to believe that God was not answering their prayers and that he does not exist.

i dont like being the first to blog!! i dont really get it. :/ but ill try..i think a reformation happening in todays world would be possible. but not likely. with the way the way things work now everything falling to pieces would just end our world.

i think that reformation can happen anytime well depending what you bring like someone can bring or have really good belifs that suppoet their religion. there are many different typs of things that can make a religion like with the facts and supports with the expansuon of trade and the exchange of ideas . and also if we had to play all over for the religion i think that it would still have the same signifcant it al depends what people bring in like i said early their diff ideas and trade because religion makes someone and it can break some one too .

religion always plays a big part in the changing of society but it is not nearly as influencial as it was in the past. I don't believe that their will be a huge reformation again like what martin luther did.

i do believe that religion would play a major role in what the new world would look like. just like in earlier times when making the constitution, the dominant religion had a major influence in what the laws were to become. so i believe that it would go just about the same way if our economies were to collapse.

I dont think that religion would have the same affect now as it would have in the mideval ages and back then. People are not nearly as religious as they used to be. More than half the people i know families dont even go to church. If we had to start all over i think their would just be chaos and lots of killing, drug using , and robbery. Adan Martinez pd. 7

I think religion would play a huge part, if our economy fell apart. Because without religion we wouldn't have the stuff now without it.

i think reformation could be possible, everything is possible. it would all depend on who was trying to make it possible, and what type of government we have at that moment.

If we had to start over People would freak out. They will start their own religion and they'll hope that history would not repeat itself. I believe that History does repeat itself.

I think that if our world were to be destroyed and if we had to start all over again, religion would stilll play a major role in our thoughts and beliefs. Religion and belief in a God gives people assurance and hope. The faithful people would be sure to re-enforce the ideas and morals given to us by our religions. WE need human faith and spirit to keep religion in the spot that it is. Therefore in todays world, reformation is possible but highly unlikely. People have already invested their faith and will remain faithful without haveing the want or need to reform.

i think that if our world was completely destroyed and we had to start over again i think that we wouldnt really follow in the same exact footprints but i think we would have to in one way or the other be close to the old way because we would have to start somewhere so we could advance till we get ahead again

Religion would be all we would have if a reformation occured. People would have no where else to go or look to.

  • bryce clancy p7

first of all kyle, if the world was destroyed then there wouldn't be anyone alive. second of all if the world was destroyed and a couple people survived, they would have to have faith in God because who else could've destroyed the world? Unless they were athiest like jack john paul

Reformation would be unlikely during this time, as religion forming has died down in the past 100 years. It's too improbable.

well as Adan Martinez and ian say that religion wont have the same affect and its true in one point because now we think diffrently and diff things now that make us think a difff way but i still think that it would have a huge affect becuae relgion pays a huge huge rule and it affects everyone and changes everything well it just depends if u blive in our religion or have deep belifs to it .. so i still think it will have a great change

i think that if the world ended and started all over again everything would most likely end. the world now and the world back then are totally different for many reasons. religion was one of the most important things to most people back then, but now hardly anyone actually goes to church or evens practices their religion. i agree with what bryce says, i dont beleive reformation will ever happen again..at least in our life time

I think if our world did start over again then religion would play a big part. If it did start over then i think it would kinda be the same with the belief in god.

iagree with yolsi .. it can happene and history could repeat its self ,
i veiwed the side of the religon wouldnt have a affect and i also see that point of veiw were bryce clancy mention religion always plays a big part in the changing of society but it is not nearly as influencial as it was in the past however , it all depends on the people like kyle says The faithful people would be sure to re-enforce the ideas and morals given to us by our religions. WE need human faith and spirit to keep religion ,for conclusion it all depends on humans on what they want to think

I don't think that there would be a reformation in modern times because everyone who already has a religion will probably want to stick with it and not change.

I believe that religion would play an important role in our thoughts and beliefs if something catastrophic caused our world to be destroyed. All of the people who have faith would still have the faith in god as they did before in their own religions.

  • dustin Everson

If humans had to start over in the world I don't think that religion would have as big an impact as it did in medieval times. Back then the church could easily convince people that it was a god causing a storm or an eclipsing moon and because science had not yet given an explanation for why these things happened god was the only explanation for most people. But today even if we had to tart over with all our technology we would still know why storms occur and why eclipses happen because of science. So i don't think that religion would be as strong as it was in the past.

I think that if we would have to start over then religion would play a major part in reshaping our world. In todays world most people put religion aside and only turn to it when they have a problem. I also think that if the world would start over Ten some people couldn't adapt to it because there wouldn't be any modern luxaries.

I think Kyle is right, without hope and faith we would have nothing. Even today we all have something to believe in. Plus, without our morals and our ideas coming from religion, we would still be a netherdal.

I do think reformation can happen anytime at any place and religion is a big important thing in the world and always will be. so if the world did end was reborn religion will still be there. its a thing we can't get rid of. And i do agree with Yolsi, that history does repeat itself and we would make our own religions if the world ended. But right now, people are not very religious as they used to be.

Reformation, you can use in any time. In the U.S people have the right to choose what they want to believe, you are allowed to be whatever you want to be or whoever you want to be only if not against the law. I was Jewish and Catholic but now im a christain theres not alot of differences but there is some and thats the stuff i disagree with.

If the world collasped i dont think we would be worried about religous reason, or who jewish, or mormon, or muslim.. We would be more concern about how did this happen? what should we do? But there are others that would just pray for this world to change, until they see change.

i think kyle makes a really good point. Religion is a very big part of peoples lifes.

I think science would play a bigger role now, then it ever has. Mostly everything we take for granted has been though science. Religion is the main drive for most people good or bad.But it would really matter where and when this reformation happened and how much religion/science had a impact there. Same would possibly apply for a natural disaster.War would be impossible to tell...

  • Erika Vasquez P7

In my opinion religion would not have the same effect because a lot of people now base their believes in science and technology .
They try to prove the existence of human beings with a logical scientific explanation.

The world is constantly changing no matter what. Now that the economy is declining i think that many people are turning to religion to help with this economic downfall. Since history repeats itself i think we're well due for dramatic change.

Yolsi makes a good point. Religion will always play a big part in peoles lifes if it were start over theres a pretty good chance people would freak.

i think it would be extremely difficult for reformation right now. i agree with steven, There are some people that aren't religious at all, but then again there are some very religious so its hard to decide on if it possible right now.

There are tons of atheist's in the world now. I wonder if the atheists population would grow or reduce after a mass disaster such as starting over agin.

Our nation would still depend on religion very much if something catastrophic happened. I believe that the firm believers would keep their faith and people would follow them just as before.

If we had to start over in this world, I think science and religion would get a boost. Today there are so many distractions like TV, music and video games that people don't pay attention to, or think about religion or science as much as medieval times.

If a lot of the world got destroyed because of nuclear warfare, then many, many people would die, including innocent people and animals. Warfare is often caused by religion or power, but what kind of God would allow so many innocent people and animals to be killed. If this happened, some people would maybe lose their faith in God or believe they did something wrong to anger their God.

i believe that if we had a collapse, that religion honestly wouldnt play a major role because people would be to worried bout everything else thats going on. unlike the 19th century that mostly all they had.

I do not think that reformation is possible because, like Reed said, people are stubborn and most of the time arent willing to suddenly change their religious views because of the government.

i think that poeple in todays world would have the same outlook on life as they did before our nation collaped . if anything poeple might be more pissed off at god because they would believe that its his fault.

  • jaren smith P.6

i think that its possible for reformation to happen in modern days because enough people in the world pray and believe that it can help govern nations. I definitely think that it religion would play a significant role because what else would there be for people to believe in.

Religious views are changing these days, though not many people are experiencing it at shadow mountain, but its been seen on the news on how people are losing faith and questioning God's existence based on economic crashes. Some of the people who are losing their jobs or homes and belongings are in such states of depression that they're losing their beliefs. Are we having a negative reformation period now?

I think that religion and science is required for reformation to happen. It effects they way we do things today in so many ways.

I think that religion influences everything even if people don't realize it, they are being impacted by their religious beleifs or even the views of other religions. It seems to me like people kinda put religion "on the back burner" now compared to the 19th century. But this was bound to happen only because man has become more and more intelligent and successful so the way we live and priorities are going to change.

    10/4/2009 7:14:06 PM
  • Justin Borowski

I think reformation is possable in modern times because it has happened before. I think it is a period piece of society because it helps people not to kill each other. I think that religion would play a huge significant part if the world had to start over for it would then gather people to change their ways.
