    Dear Boys and Girls,
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I hope that you all enjoy the letters that I wrote to your families to be opened on Thanksgiving.  I am thankful each and every day that I have the chance to be your teacher. Enjoy the holiday and be ready to go when you come back so that we can continue to explore the United States while on our regions tour.
    Love,
    Mrs. Cervone

It has been quite some time since our last blog.  4th Grade has been very exciting this year. We are currently working on publishing our Adventure stories, finishing up our Sheep in a Jeep experiment to test force and motion, and wrapping up our Inferring Unit of Study by determining Author's Purpose and making text interpretations.
We are working hard at growing as authors as we prepare for our important FCAT writing assessment and were really excited to spend the day with children from the other 4th grade classes working on learning different crafting strategies.
In Math we recently completed a unit on decimals that also taught us about baseball, and we are now working on our Geo-Measure unit.
We look forward to a happy and healthy month as we prepare to spend Thanksgiving with our family and friends.
    Enjoy our site,
    Mrs. Cervone

Our 2nd week was a lot of fun. We did many things together. The best part of the week was receiving our Writer's Notebooks and decorating them to reflect ourselves.  We also played a math game called, "Go For Broke" it was a lot of fun and got us ready to think about Math.  We did a science experiment called, "Squeeze Please."  It was a blast, even though Mrs. Cervone kept getting upset that we couldn't stop squeezing each others hands and laughing.  4th grade has been a lot of fun and we hope it continues:)

We had a very successful first week of school, despite having to close school for a day for Hurricane Fay. I have to admit, I was a little sad when I saw my children from last year.  I missed them very much this summer and hate that I won't be their teacher, but  I couldn't be happier with my new class, they are full of personality.  This week was busy one, but we accomplished a lot.  We developed our class "community agreements" and read a few favorite books to help us build our community.  We read "Cookies", "The O.K. Book" and our favorite, "Do Unto Otters."  We also learned about real reading vs. fake reading.  The children enjoyed the ice cream sundae analogy and are excited to begin building their own "real reading sundaes" as they continue on their reading journey.
Beginning next week, two children will be assigned as the class bloggers.  Their job will be to keep track of our class happenings and to post an entry to our class blog for others to comment on.

Thank you for a great first week.
    Mrs. Cervone

    Hi Smarties,
I hope you are all doing well. You might have noticed that the look of our website has changed.  This past year in 2nd grade we had a "Jungle" theme. Can you guess the theme for my 4th grade class by looking at the website???Let me know your guesses.
I will begin changing the website a little bit, but I promise to keep your games and links on here.
    I MISS YOU EVERYDAY!!!
    Love,
    Mrs. Cervone

My cousin, Mrs. Abram, is a 3rd grade teacher in Virginia.  I thought that as the year is coming to an end, her students could give us some advice on how to do our very best next year when our class goes to 3rd grade.  Hopefully Mrs. Abram's kids will have time to write us a few comments with their best advice.
