Hello all!  The year is moving along splendidly.  We have been working hard and discussing lots of history.  I am aware that my style can be very different from other classrooms that students have been in.  I think we have an interesting time.  The students are slowly starting to respond to the fact that I expect a lot out of them in the classroom.  I do not generally give homework, but we work hard in class.  All students know that anything not finished in class should be completed on the student’s own time.  I give enough time for 90% of students to finish.  If someone is not getting their work completed, then they are wasting time.  I assume we are having a little issue getting used to that.

We have just had the first test.  Some students were successful and others were not.  It was the first test and it is difficult for students who are not participating ands focusing in class.  Hopefully, with a little focus and maturity, we will all rise to the high level of expectations that are present in my class.  We are moving into the colonization of Georgia…lots of interesting things there.  The students are writing stories that transfer the colonization into the future.  This is a great way to take the information that they have learned and synthesis it in their heads so that they can create something new.  This is one of the highest levels of learning and critical thought.  I cannot wait to read them.
