Stephen King's "The Body" later became the film "Stand By Me."  Fitzgerald's short story became a blockbuster "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" - so many short stories have been turned into wonderful films.

Sometimes, however, films do NOT get the book right.  For example - when I was a kid, I was really disappointed in the cartoon film versions of The Hobbit and Return of the King.  If anyone's seen these, you know what I'm talking about.  "The Lord of the Rings" ("middle" cartoon in the series..) was amazing because it was directed by someone else.  It's from this "middle" cartoon that Peter Jackson pulled his inspiration.  It's as if he felt the same frustration as I had years ago and wanted to make things right.

Have there been any movies that totally got it right (based on a book) or totally got it wrong?  Please share your thoughts here!

You were able to only grab FIVE items off the single-engine plane you were flying before you had to parachute out.  What would you grab and why?  NOTE:  ALL your electronic devices (gps, cellphone, etc.) do NOT work!
Oh - and Bear Grills or the "Survivor Man" cannot be considered one of your items...nice try.

So - what would you do to survive?
