Welcome to our Northwood Technology experiment with WebLogs (blogs for short). I am adding a blog page to the administration webpage to provide current information about administrative issues of interest to students and parents. This week, the Falcon Focus has been intensively attuned to state-wide testing. Ninth graders finished iLEAP today. Tenth graders have completed the English and Math portions of the Graduation Exit Exam (GEE21). Eleventh graders have taken the Science and Social Studies portions of the GEE on Monday and Tuesday this week. Seniors have enjoyed a variety of valuable off-campus experiences such as college visits and job shadowing. Maybe some of the seniors will post a response to share what they have been up to.
Teachers will be uploading third nine weeks to the parish online grading system this weekend. Report cards will go home on Thursday, March 20th. Seniors will have only six weeks of school after Spring Break, and underclassmen will have eight weeks. Now is the time to make any adjustments to study habits to improve your grades and your second semester transcript.
Registration for the 2008-2009 school year is underway. The master schedule is designed based on student requests for classes, so carefully consider your choices. Hopefully, you will choose the challenge presented by our enriched level courses, dual enrollment classes which allow you to earn college credit, and/or Advanced Placement courses which prepare students for a national examination to earn college credit based on test scores.
A blog is designed as an interactive tool, so I hope to hear from fellow Falcons in response to these comments. Check back often for updates from Barker's Blog - a bird's eye view of the Falcon Nest!
