  My favorite type of candy is Reece's Peanut Butter cups. I love how they like stuff the candy with peanut butter, but it is chocolately on the outside! It just tastes really good, but it makes you really thirst! :)

  I think we could maximize the volume of candy that we got on Halloween night. I think we could do this by getting a bigger Halloween bag. I know when I was little I used to use like these really small plastic bags that where shaped like pumpkins. Well since volume is how much space an object could hold, we should use bigger Halloween bags! A lot of people now, use pillow cases. They do this because the get more candy, the more candy you get, the more space it takes up and the more candy you get to eat! So instead of using the tiny pumpkin shaped containers, we should use bigger bags such as pillowcases. Because if we had used the pumpkin baskets, the candy was always falling out, and when the candy falls out, the parents find a way to say that your bag was overfilling and that it was time to go home. And that, just takes the fun out of trick or treating!

  I think we could maximize out candy, by using the bigger bags too. But instead of just doing that, we could go out collecting candy longer. And if your one of the kids who's parents don't let them stay out long, you could go out at an earlier time, and then you could just get more candy by hitting more houses at an earlier time, and if you had gone earlier, I don't think there is many people, because a lot of people now go trick or treating at times such as 8 or 9 o'clock. They usually don't go at times like 7 or 6 because its just kinda earlier, but I have seen that happen, but only when parents have taken their little kids trick or treating, so that they can go to bed at an earlier time. :)

  Happy Halloween Everyone!!!
  
  1) My favorite type of candy is Dots. They are these gummy things. I don't really know how to describe them, but they are soft, mushy, chewy, they stick to your teeth, they come in a variety of colors, and are in a rectangluar box. DOTS ARE AWESOME!!!!!
  
  2)I think that i could gather more and put them into a container. Then i could do width* length*height. Instead of finding out the volume of each piece of candy, i could do them all at once.
  
  3) Instead of finding out the mass of each piece of candy, i could put them in a container(bag, little cup, etc.) and weigh them on my family's scale in our bathroom. Then i could find out the mass of each piece of candy combined, instead of just having 1 piece of candy, with a very small mass, i will have a bigger mass, and more pieces of candy.

  1)I love butterfingers
  2)you could either buy some candy or you could go to more houses in that short two hour span by taking a go-cart around the neighborhood instead of walking.It would have pretty much no excercise but it would definetly be faster.
  3)Well,when it comes to candy(or pretty much any substance) it gets more massive as the volume goes up,so the answer is the same as part two.

  2. one way i could make the volume bigger is by melting 1 twix bar put another twix bar on top of it and then put them in the freezer.

  [4.] mr.stark, i did one of the experiments the one with the floating m's on the m&m's and my results were that the letter its self did not come of. well it came off but not alone. alot of different chunks of white from the m&m came off at different times but not times far apart.

  2. With chocolate you could do the Chocolate Bloom test. After you melt it you would freeze it then it would have more volume.
  Then with the chew sugary candy you could do the Density Rainbow test. Then you could freeze that for more volume.

  2.) i think you you could maximize the volume of your candy you acquire on a Halloween night if you use a brown paper bag. i think this because like when you measure volume it would be in a rectangle so it would be easy to measure a brown paper bag to get more candy.
  
  3.)i think you could maximize the mass of the candy you acquire on a Halloween night if you used a big bag. i think this because mass is how much something is. so if you got a big bag and fill it with candy it will increase the mass. also you could maximize the amount of candy you acquire on a Halloween night if you take big handfuls of candy.

  (2).I think i can increas the volume of my candy on halloween night by walking longer. I think this will work because as I go to more houses I will get more candy. then the volume of the candy in the bag will increase.

  1)My favorite type of candy is either wintergreen lightsavers(that is cool how they make lights in your mouth) or jolly ranchers.
  2)If you want to maximize the volume of the candy you aquire on Halloween night you could go to a neighborhood were there is a lot of houses and they are all closely packed together. You would take bigger candies instead of smaller ones. For instance instead of taking a gum ball you could take a pack of m&m's.
  3)If you want to maxamize the mass of candy you aquire on Halloween night you could go to a neighborhood where the houses are closely packed together and there is a lot of them and you could take bigger and heavier peices of candy. For instance instead of taking a starburst you could take a snickers bar or instead of taking a 3 muskateers bar you could take a tootsie pop. Since snickers bars and tootsie pops are more massive than starbursts and 3 muskateers bars.

  A way to increase the volume of candy may be to heat it up on the inside and it might expand
  You might be able increase the mass of candy by putting some sort of clean gas in there for example you could pu air in it. It wont increase it by much but it might a little bit.

  1: My favorite candy!! Well that is such a hard one. It would have to be... aha Reese's peanut butter cups. I love them because they are so filling. I love chocolate and i love peanut butter. Reese's are the bomb!!!!
  2: I could maximize the volume by hitting more houses. If I hit more houses the amount of space that the candy will take up will be more. I would absolutely love it if my volume maximized.
  3: I could maximize my mass by doing the same thing. I could try to hit more houses. Or I could make my costume really awesome and hope to get extra candy which would be awesome.

  2)To maximize the volume of your candy-the amount of space an object takes up-you could think of that chart that we did on mass and volume in class. After we graphed everything,Mr. Stark gave us examples of density, volume, and mass, then asked us if we could answer him by using the graph. You were able to answer his questions based on the graph, because you just found the place where the mass on the axis of the chart was, then drove your finger across the page until it met up with the line of progression on the specific material(copper, aluminum). Saying this, there may be a good chance that to increase the amount of candy you recieve, its based on the mass of the candy also.To increase the mass of your candy, now- how much matter an object has-you would have to add something, like maybe more sugar or oil, because on the website it said that "the more sugar water has in it, the denser", and we all know that density is based on mass divided by volume, so the amount of mass an object has affects the density, which goes back to the sugar water. The amount of oils and sugar in an object could increase the mass because without the oils, the object would be less massive- the oils add much more mass. Saying that, you could graph every type of candy that you got on Halloween, and then- this was an example on one of the expeirimenhts- take a kitchen scale, and choose to measure how much sugar, oil, or both is in each candy. To do this, you take your candy, unwrapped, so it doesn't affect the expieriment, and balance it out with sugar or oil until each side is equal. Then you graph what the mass is for each candy, and move onto volume: graduated cylinder or pi times the height, if the candy is rarely cylindrical. Then, you keep on doing this repeatedly to two or more of the same object, graph it, connect the dots, then measure to see how much more oil and sugar you need to add to the volume. Keep track of the measurements of sugar/oil, so you still know what the volume would be of the object. The chart can also help you if you want to find out other instances of the volume of candy; put your finger on the amount of mass, then drag until it meets up with the line of progression. Then you take another example, like Mr. Stark did, and just use math and the kitchen scale to increase volume.
  3)To maximize the mass of candy you could probably do the same thing, because say you have a gummy bear, then add one grain of sugar, the mass will be increased. Also, I put the same answer down for 2 because if you did the same thing to that gummy bear it would still take one more grain of sugar more. In this situation, mass and volume were very similar, and reosons for the graph were because if you already had a plethora of things graphed down you could still find the mass and volume of anything as long if it were in the same number range. To increase both the mass and volume of candy, add more oil or sugar, and use a graph li8ke the one we did in class to keep track of measurements and to figure out future volume-related instances.

  if you wanted to maximize the mass of you candy you could go to more houses or you could go to the same houses you already went to and if they say have you already been here you would say no but that would be kind of rude.
  if you wanted to maximize the volume of your candy you could compacted it in a smaller bag so there would be less air in it but you would need alot of bags to get candy on halloween!!!!

  Hi,
  1. My favorite candy is dark chocolate non-parallel. If you do not know what non-parallels, they have chocolate bottoms and white circle candy sprinkles on top!! They are delicious!
  2. I could maximize my volume of candy by melting all my candy together! This would maximize the volume of my candy because it would spread and take up more space (volume = how much room an object takes up).
  3. I could maximize the mass of my candy by combing it all together. This maximizes the mass because it is adding all the weight of all the candy and making it weighs more (mass = how much an object weighs).
  
  Talking about candy is making me want to eat it so I have to get some!

  Well, I was sick on Halloween so I didn't get to go to many houses in my neighborhood. But I'm glad that I was still well enough to go because I had swine flu! Anyway, there are so many different types of candy that I love. It's just so hard to choose!!! But since I have to choose one of them, I would choose licorice. There's this one kind that is really juicy and sweet and not as hard as the original kind. To increase the volume of my candy, I could walk around a few more houses so that I can get more candy! It's as simple as that! Volume is the amount of space an object takes up. So if you add more candy, then you're adding to the volume. To increase the mass of my candy, all I have to do is get more candy! Just like the last question. Mass is the amount of matter that something is made up of. So to make your candy heavier, all you have to do as add more candy! I hope that you all had a fantastic Halloween and I'll see you on the next blog!
