  Brandon, i think Anne is having these mood swings because she is unstable or stressed out from the war and all the stress is getting to her and causing her moods to swing this might be wierd but it could also be hormonal (don't think i spelled that right!)

  Sam, no I don't think Anne will ever go outside the Annexe by her choice, she will be outside of it when they take her away though! (not the most pleasant way so be outside for the first time in 2 years!!!)

  I think that Anne has mood swings because first of all she is under stress. She has been confined to the Secret Annexe for a long time. She has had to live with the same people. She even said that she is like a bird in a cage who cannot get out. People get moody when they have to stay in one place for a long time. Anne has bad "cabin fever".

  Anne tells as an introduction that since much of the talk in the annex is based on the war. From that point on she talks a lot about the war. She talks about how the girls react differently than the boys.

  To reply to Brandon's question, I think Anne has many swings because
  1. She is growing older, and lots of kids grow this this, and
  2. She really isn't sure what she permenantly feels after all of her experoences in the Annex- the quarrels with her parents, her interest in Peter, and how she knows she has to be strong in the worst of times.

  Anne had mixed emotions about the burglary. She was horribly frightened that the police were looking through the secret cobert, and she was afraid that they would be discovered. Then, when she found out that they weren't discovered and their secrets were safe, she and many other secret annexe members (Mrs. Van Daan) were highly releived. So, I think her diary entried reflect on how scared or releived she was about the burglary.

  On page 217 it is presenting that Peter and Anne are moving forward in their relationship. Will Anne's dad get mad at her for doing, because early in the bokk Anne's dad just thought that Peter and Anne were just friends and it seemed like he wanted it to stay that way.

  I don't think Anne will ever go outside of the Annex except for when her family, the Van Daans and Dussel are found and taken away to concentration camps (because Anne is in hiding she is not aloud to go outside).
