How could you use the rules for divisibility to predict whether or not a division problem will have a remainder?

counting votes in an election,

saving money to buy an Ipod,

ordering pizza for your class,

setting up chairs for an assembly,

Which of the above activites could you use estimation for? Which ones would need an exact answer? WHY? Answer in complete sentences and give examples.

Explain the steps of how you would solve the following problem:
1 ^3/4 + 2 ^{1/2 = ?}
