I think that when they talked about the wild fires it was interesting. It talked about how the wild fires related to succession. Like when fires happen it burns down the trees. Which leads to a change in the ecosystem.

I think that it relates by how yellow stone regrew after they started to conserve and the fires start to spread seeds all over in the long run.

The article was very interesting, it must be relaxing to just sit on top of the mountain and observe the wildlife and the forest.

This article is very interesting. It's also kind of cool about how fires are kind of like restarting a forest. Everything grows new again and all the things can reproduce for further generations. i think it would be cool to sit on a mountain and watch all of nature and study it. I think it would be awesome to see if the same animals came every year and to watch them. But I also think I wouldn't be able to do it because I would get so lonely. But I liked all the pictures too.

I Think that it was cool how George had to live on the mountain top alone and look for fires. It was cool how some things needed the fire to reproduce, (there was a tree that needed heat to open the pine cone)
It was also interesting that they tried to let the fire burn out by itself so everything stays natural.

I have read a lot on Yellow Stone before and this is the best one I have ever read on it. It was exiting and a lot I have never read before about it. Forests fires can happen a lot and I knew it happened but not a lot. It was a true good story on a persons hike up a the mountain. Most fires can burn down the trees and make new land.

I think that it would be really boring if I had to sit up there my whole life. With out anyone to see or talk too. Nothing to do. The same thing everyday. Nothing new, the same thing everyday. I would never do it because it would be to boring. I think that it would be cool if you called the fire places then it would be like you saved the day. I know that it will change just it would not see it that easy, from that far up.

wow it must get scary living alone in the woods for that long.

Some thing I thought were interesting was when the guy lived up on the mountain for three months in a one room cabin. Yellowstone forest fires didn't happen a lot. Big forest fires were uncommon to Yellow tones. Most of the fires were small and died before they did any real damage. Also the bear population dropping was interesting to me. The last thing I thought was interesting was how a bear and 2 cubs broke into the guys hut. I thought the article was cool and interesting.

We were a little confused by this article. It jumped from different stories the whole time. First it started to talk about this guy George and his daily life. We did notice some sucsession though. We saw that the fires of Yellowstone Park helped things die and then reproduce and grow again. We don't think that this article is the best it could have been.

I think that that article was very interesting. I also though that that George would have been board sitting on the top of the mountain all day looking for fires. I also did not know that wild fires happen that much and that they could make new land and trees.

This article was really interesting, I think that it would be cool to stay on a mountain and observe nature. Its good about how fires help to make more trees (also how one type needs heat to drop seeds) but its also kinda scary how the fires can spread that fast. I think I could maybe stay on the mountain like the guy, but only if I had things to do.

I never knew forest fires we some what good for the soil. Now i get why. Also i thought it was interesting that George lives up in yellow stone park and takes notes on what happens. He keeps records on what goes on with animals, weather, rain, and forest fires.

When I was in 4th or 5th grade i was reading a story about Yellow Stone, and it didn't give that much information and i was left wondering different things. By reading this all those answers were answered and I wasn't left wondering anything. I used to think wild fires didn't happen that much and they were rare because I have never seen one happen before. Now from reading this article I know now that they do happen alot and we can't find ways to stop it.

This site was very interesting. I liked how it talked about how he was living. When he talked a bout black bears that was cool to. I think living up there would be fun and interesting.

I found that living on top of this mountain was pretty interesting but I would not want to be alone for so long. It relates to succesion because when a fire starts it opens up life for a whole new range of plants and animals.

I think it was cool about how the man sits there and watches the fires and does the weather. It was so awesome that when the fires start they can burn up to 3 months and when they are over the trees can reproduce. Amazing!

What I thought was really interesting was the fact that George Henley lives by himself on a mountain top for so long. What I also find interesting is how firefighters usually let the wildfires put themselves out. They do this because this helps with the process of succession. Another thing that I found interesting was the fact that George mentioned that the bear population had gone down.
This article related to succession because it talked about how wildfires are are a natural part of succession. I didn't know that. Without wildfires new trees wouldn't be able to grow.

this article has lots of info it is really cool and so kids didnt get so bored out they added a pic of what it looked like. I LIKED the part of the water sping that was pretty cool 2. it was amasing how big it was

I think that its cool they have a device on the mountain to tell people where the fire is. I wonder if they have three towers on the mountains to triangulate where the fires are using angle readings? They use this near us on Mt. A and two other mountains. The reason is so they know exactly where fires are.

He must be lonely, but i bet it is a great and beautiful view from where he is though.

I thought it was interesting how George Henley spends every summer at a remote cabin spotting fires. When the forest fires burn forests it can be the start of succession. The fire clears land which opens up an area for new species. When those new species develop to a climax the change is complete.

the guy that lives at the top at of mount holms or peek must get very lonely if there is no one around for him to talk to all by him self i wound what its like to live on the top of a mountain i bet its really cool whit that awsome view of the land at the bottom

I think that when they talked about the wild fires it was interesting, and seeing how wild fires started. When the fire burns down trees it causes a change in the ecosystem.

I think it was interesting how that man does what he does. Looking at the weather all the time sounds boring but it's actually is pretty cool. He knows the exact information like the log takes 70 - 100 years to decompose for it to be fallen. Also that Grand yellowstone park spring is beautiful. It looks like a cut open gemstone that my mom has.

I found many things interesting about this article. One thing that I found out was that so many people work to prevent fire danger in yellowstone national park. This article is related to succession because the article talk about how fires clear the way for succession to take place. It never occurred to me that fires could actually be good for the environment. If I had to go that long without seeing anybody I would be bored too.

    I like the part about the bears breaking into his house. And the fire that was going for three months i would think it would kill most of the trees in the park I've been to yellow stone and there was a fire while i was there you could see it at the top. It was a good articleSmileand also the pool picture was cool :}

I really thought this article was interesting. I find it so fascinating that he had spent and is still spending so much time on the mountain. I really enjoyed reading about the wild fires. I had no idea that they could go on for that long. Reading this made me more interested in what it would be like to live on a mountain for three or so months. I think it's pretty interesting to live on a mountain all by himself.

I can't believe how that there were 34,000 acers of forest burned in the fire 1988. Just imagine the miles of fire consuming trees that could be 200 years old. It's cool how nature by itself puts the fires out. Without the fires then it would could be just a lot of dead trees now nature really provides it's own nutrients.

I thought it was really interesting how fires can go on for a months and how nobody can stop them or try to stop them. I would not like to be sitting there all day, for a long time, just watching animals and looking out for fires. I would eventually get bored. If I ever had to, I would probably read the whole time. I also would go out in the woods and go hiking or something.

It was a good story. I still cant believe that he lives in that cabin so long I think I would die of bordom but it would be cool to see all the wild life.:)

I think that it would be awesome to live near that pool with the hot water. Instead of being cold you could be warm. I agree with writer 16 and writer 91

I thought that the Osborne Firefinder sounded like a really cool tool to find out where fires are located. I also thought that it is very interesting how rangers sometimes let fires burn for a little bit, because they know it will grow back.

When wildfires happen, it burns down many trees and harms a lot of animals. The formatting made it a bit confusing to read, because it jumped around a lot, but otherwise it was easy to understand. I didn't think forest fires were all that great for soil, but I did know a bit of that. It's nice that they interviewed people, but it was rather insignificant. It was rather related to succession and the article was rather interesting. It gave new information that I didn't know before, and it was useful. The pictures were informative and added to the article, and they were useful. I say people find a way to agree on how to stop the fires so all those trees don't burn down, and the animals don't die. That would also make it easier for people, because there's less danger of a fire reaching them.

I was interested in how the rangers let fires burn. I would never have guessed it. It was like succession because the younger generation grows from the fires.

It was interesting to learn how someone could spend 3 months alone in the mountains! I didn't know that was needed for weather and wildfire readings. I thought they had a satalite for that.

This writing piece was very interesting. The part that amazed me the most was how George lives at the top of Mount Homes all by himself. Another thing I thought was strange was how they let the fires burn themselves and that the cones on the tree need the hot fire to open them up to be able to grow knew trees.

I thought that this article was very interesting. The part of it that interested me the most was the fact that this guy lives in that hut for 2-3 months at a time. I personally I would not want to do that because I would get really bored and lonely. But I do think that it is cool that a few people are placed in different parts of yellowstone and watch to see if there are fires or sudden changes in the forest. Thats my comment.
