POSTED AT 07:33 AM

Yesterday, we watched the Inauguration of President Barak Obama.  Throughout history, most presidents have taken the oath of office on an open Bible.  The Bible was often open to a scripture passage that was significant to that person.

Pretend you are being sworn in as President of the United States.  What portion of scripture would you use?  Explain why you chose this portion and how it would help you focus on being a Godly leader.

    If I were chosen president of the United States, at my inauguration, I would choose this passage to put my hand over:

    “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)

    Christ plays a huge part in my life and if I am running a country, I am going to want God in my life. And if I’m ever in doubt about a tough decision, I could remember the passage, pray for help from God and hopefully make the right decision.

    I would chose Joshua 1:9 as my Scripture Passage if I was elected President:

    “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

    I would choose this because it tells me that God will be with me wherever I am. It also tells me to be strong for our country no matter how bad times are. This will help me be a good leader because I know I can just ask God for help when I need it. It tells me to go out and do what is best for the country.

    “I love you, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.
    He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.” (Psalm 18: 1-3)

    If I were elected president of the United States, I would choose Psalm 18:1-3 as my inauguration verse. In the passages it talks about strength. I would want this to symbolize that the United States are strong. I also want the United States to be a refuge or a safe place for all people of all races and religions, because that is why the United States was formed. I also want to point out that when all else fades, God is our refuge and our rock; we can rely on Him. He keeps the United States together, and through Him we can do anything. This is my inauguration verse.

    If I were elected president of the United States I would choose the Bible verse:

    He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon."
    Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen. (Revelation 22:20-21)

    The reason I would choose this Bible verse is because it is the last verse in Bible, and I think it would help me, talk to my nation. It would also help me act more Godly. Like when I get mad it would help me calm down. I would also work hard to keep my nation safe. In this passage God says He will send His grace to us. This would help me work, and I would know that God was working right next to me.

    If I was elected president I would chouse this verse at my inauguration,

    “Rescue me, O LORD, from evil men;
    protect me from men of violence,
    who devise evil plans in their hearts
    and stir up war every day.
    They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent's;
    the poison of vipers is on their lips.
    Selah
    Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked;
    protect me from men of violence
    who plan to trip my feet.” (Psalm 140:1-4)

    This will help me be a good leader by insuring me to rescue people. Leaders save people from danger, such as terrorists, violent crime and illegal drugs. It will also help me work harder by helping do my job better.

    If I was elected president I would use the Bible verse “Oh
    ,how I prospered! I left all my predecessors in Jerusalem far behind, left them behind in the dust. What’s more, I kept a clear head through it all. Everything I wanted I took. I never said no to myself. I gave in to every impulse, held back nothing. I sucked the narrow pleasure out of every task. My reward to myself for a hard days work”.
    (Ecclesiasiastes 2:9-10)(MSG)

    I would use this passage because it would reminds me how I am a very good worker and leader. This will help me be a good leader because it inspires me to never back down or quit striving for what’s right. It help me show people and myself that I will never quit at being a good person and won’t stop doing what’s right.

    If I were elected President I would use this scripture verse:

    “The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures,
    He leads me beside quiet waters.

    He restores my soul.
    He guides me in paths of righteousness
    For his name's sake.

    Even though I walk
    through the valley of the shadow of death.

    I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

    You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies.
    You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.

    Surely goodness and love will follow me
    all the days of my life,
    and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
    forever.”(Psalm 23)

    I would use that psalm, because God is my protector from evil. He is my leader, and my comforter. He will also help me make good choices. It will help me depend more on him and make me make more godly choices. It might also help me be re-elected.

    If I was elected President my Bible verses would be from be Psalm 119:108-109

    “Accept, O LORD, the willing praise of my mouth,
    And teach me your laws.”

    “Though I constantly take my life in my hands,
    I will not forget your law.” (Psalms 119:109-108)

    I chose Psalms 119:108-109 because I want to be a good leader of my country like God. I want do what I know is right for my country and what God knows is right, not just for myself but for the United States. I can still be a Faithful Christian by giving money for the homeless and the Healthcare.

    May the LORD answer you when you are in distress?
    May the name of the God of Jacob protect you. (Psalms20: 1)

    This verse will help me as a leader by reminding me that I need to never forget that God is with us all. As a leader I need to protect my people from threats nation wide. My people should know to pray to God when they need help and I need to pray when I need help too.

    “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid. A good man obtains favor from the LORD but the LORD condemns a crafty man. A man cannot be established through wickedness, but the righteous. The plans of the righteous are just, but the advice of the wicked is deceitful. The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them. Wicked men are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous stands firm. A man is praised according to his wisdom, but men with warped minds are despised. A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment. The wicked desire the plunder of evil men, but the root of the righteous flourishes. An evil man is trapped by his sinful talk, but a righteous man escapes trouble.”(Proverbs 12:1-3,5-8,10-13)

    If I were elected President I would choose the above passage because it tells me differences between good and evil. It tells me what to expect from the wicked and what the righteous will do. This passage teaches good lessons on decent and evil people. I shouldn’t steal, say evil things, or hate correction. I should like correction, help people, and not take advice from evil. If I lack judgment, than I will make poor decisions, but if I have judgment I will make good decisions. That is why it would help me be a good President.

    All very excellent! What a difficult job to pick one out. I would have to choose my confirmation verse because it speaks on a number of things I think a President would need, hope, trust in God, peace and the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." I pray this for each of you as well.

    If I were President I’d choose
    I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD. I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people. (Psalms 16:13&14)
    I’d choose it to rember that before any choice to make is to be called by the by the name by the name of the LORD. That would help me be a good leader cause knowing God’s there and he’s watching me would make me Godly or unsinful choices. It would also help me rember to keep my vow which would include include protecting the United States.

    16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, [f] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

    I chose this one because it showed God loved the world so much, that he gave his one and only son. It sows whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. It is also very encouraging and truthful which makes the country more at peace. It also explains the president to be truthful to the country. It also tells the president keeps his promise to make the world a better place.
