MR. LANDSKROENER I like The Best Christmas Pageant Ever to because it is a very funny book and it made me laugh a lot. The author is a very good author and there really funny I also read the other book by the author but I really can’t recall the name of the book. I remember it was about a Halloween party though.

CRIMMSON I enjoyed reading the books by Andrew Clements because they were really nice and it got me engaged in the story because they always were good books

    MRS. WALKER,
When I was in 4th grade, I do remember reading Number the Stars. That was a great book. You said one of your favorite books is Charlottes Web. I like that book too. Mr. Zehnder read that to us when we were in 2nd grade.

ISSAC, is Diary of a Wimpy kid about a boy or a girl? I remember reading a book kind of like that. It was one Judy Bloom book…but I don’t remember what one. I read all of them when I was little.

Hello KRISTINE (it felt good calling you by your first name) – for all of you don’t know KRISTINE is my mom. What was “Blubber” about? OH you didn’t answer my question of what was your favorite Hardy Boys? Which Nancy Drew did you like (old or new)?

ANNA, why do you like fantasy books so much?

CRIMMSON, hey friend! I love Goosebumps also!

OK I’ll admit, Hardy Boys are really good book, GODFREY, even my mom read them!

ISAAC what makes the book so good?

Here are some responses to what I have read in the blog.

    Dear MRS. HORAK
Wow! You read Little Women 50 times! In my opinion that is an extremely long book! You obviously liked it but did you enjoy it more at one age than you did another? Being an 11 year old do you think I would enjoy it? Please let me know more about the book.

    Dear MR. BRAUN
I don’t know many people who enjoy history. They think our past is so boring but it really is amazing! When did you start enjoying history? What was the first history book you read? I really like history, is there any book you would recommend to me?
    Thank you!

    Dear MRS. FINK
I have been reading Judy Blume books since I could understand those chapter books! Blubber would have to be my favorite because of all the detail. I also read Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing and I LOVED IT! Did you read any other book s as a child that you really liked? What did you like about them?
Would you recommend any books to me as a 6th grader?

    Dear MRS. NOVEL
Did Enid Blyton write any books I could read? What are they and where could I find them here in America? I didn’t know that The Chronicles of Narnia were popular in England! That is so cool! How popular are they?
Could you tell me a little more about Anthony Horowitz? He sounds really cool and I want to know mare about him before I jump into one of his books.
I really had a hard time reading The Lord of the Rings too. But I am starting to read them again and sort of understand them. Are there any other books you would recommend to me as a 6th grader?

    Dear ANNA,
Thanks for recommending those books! Eragon and Eldest sound really cool.
I love to read too. But I too don’t always read in my free time. I didn’t know you were such a big reader. I book I would recommend to you is The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. It is a great book because it has many different genres mixed into it.

    Thank you for listening!

ISAAC: I’ve read one Wimpy Kid book in my whole life. It was pretty funny book. I’d have to say the auther put a lot of intresting words in the storey. Jeff Kinney is a pretty good auther. Most books I’ve read by him are pretty good like the Roderick’s Rules.

    MRS. NOVEL,
I LOVED the Chronicles of Narnia. I’m trying to collect the entire series. Have you ever heard of Brian Jacques? He wrote some of my books in Liverpool. I also loved “A Little Princess”. I read it in fifth grade.
    MRS.FISHER,
I loved “Anne of Green Gables”. I scarcely found all the books except #2 and 3. How many books do you have?
    MRS. KRAUSE,
What was your favorite “Trixie Beldon”? I want to read them sometime this year. My mom’s friend Cheryl told me they’re good.

Hi HANNAH! I love those exact horror books too! I love those authors and how they make it so interesting and scary. I remember when you suggested them to me I’m glad I listened to you. Are you glad you made me read them? That night I had nightmares. They weren’t that scary but they were still nightmares. I also like “The Series of Unfortunate Events”. I loved reading them. I didn’t read them all but I read most. I thought they were pretty easy to read. I also loved “Number The Stars” and “Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry” they were really great.

I have about a million questions to ask everyone. So many books, so little time!

MRS. KRAUSE: I find we have more things in common than I ever thought! I honestly hated reading in first grade, but once heard there was a prize for the person who read the most, I put my reading skills to the test! I hated saying that I hated reading, and I hated it more when other people said it! Now I find myself riding my bike to the library every chance I get!

LYDIA:I was looking at “Boy: Tales of Childhood” this morning! Is it good? What is your favorite part?

ANNA:I love Eragon and Eldest, too. Is “Dragonsong” interesting? Do you think I would like it?

MRS. NOVEL: It must be really cool to live in England, is there any books there I might not know about because I live in the United States?

MRS. FISHER: How did you ever find the grave and home of Louisa May Alcott? I’m a big fan! Is there anything there that is so cool you will never, ever forget? How awesome!!!!

EVERYBODY: I’m always reading new releases. Does anyone know any old, not very well known classics? I’d be really interested.

    Thank you for reading!

    Jordan,
I think you might be able to order Enid Blyton books from Amazon. They're very easy to read and you'd get through them so quickly. They would not be much of a challenge for you. My favourite series was the Famous Five one. That was about four children and a dog who solved mysteries together. You always knew there would be a bit of excitement, a bit of danger and a happy ending.
The Chronicles of Narnia are some of the MOST popular books here in England. We have read them for at least as long as you and your parents. We have the films too (although I prefer the books).
From the way you post, I think you would LOVE the Horowitz books. I am not sure if I can post a link here, but you could copy and paste this one to find out a little more about Antony Horowitz yourself. See what you think.

    Lydia,
Of COURSE I know of Brian Jacques. Once I even MET him! We have a wonderful Festival of Literature in a big city close to my home every year and part of that involves authors who come to speak to children. My youngest child is a boy who loves the Redwall Adventures and we have read them all together over the last few years.
I love Liverpool too. I went to University there when I was much younger and have many happy memories of the place.

    Olivia,
I expect there are many, many books we have here that you don't have there, but I suspect you have many books in America that we don't have here. I chat about books with your teacher sometimes and with other American friends, and we all get very confused, but it's still fun!

    Keep reading, guys!

Jordan - One year I think I read it 10 times! I know I loved it as a 7th and 8th Grader and as I type this I think I may go pick it up again! I think if you like books about strong famiies who stay together when faced with tragedy - one of which is the Father having to serve in the military. The "Little Women" are the daughters who have to step it up and help the Mom once Father is off fighting the war...and the girls' personalities are all so different. Most would say this is more of a girl book - but it's also warm, touching and filled with faith and family values. It's considered almsot historical fiction. Louisa May Alcott also wrote "Little Men" and you know, I've never read it all the way through! How 'bout you read that one and tell ME about it!? Have a great weekend! Mrs. H.

    Lydia,
Wow! Thinking back to the Trixie Beldon series is quite mind boggling. I can't remember any of the specific names, but I did love the yellow book. I think that's when Trixie met first met her very best friend, Honey. I would save my babysitting money and could buy a new book for $2.00!!!

    Hi Olivia,
How interesting that you hated to read in first grade. I guess we'll get kids to read by hook or by crook, as we still do today.

    Lydia,

I only have two of the Anne of Green Gables books, because I am not a person who likes sequels very much. I rarely think the sequel is as good as the first, although I did enjoy Anne of Avonlea which was the second book in the Anne of Green Gables series. How do you feel about sequels?

  • Mrs. Fisher

    Olivia,

You are right that it was very cool to find the house and grave of Louisa May Alcott! I will never forget seeing her desk and one of the first drafts of Little Women sitting on it! Louisa's room was small and her desk sat in front of an upstairs window. I imagine she spent a lot of time looking out that window while trying to decide how she would write certain parts of her book. It must have taken a lot of time (and thinking!) for her to come up with such a wonderful book, don't you think?

  • Mrs. Fisher

    Kaitlyn,

I hope you can see Louisa May Alcott's house one day! Even though I had read her books many years before I visited her home, seeing where she lived and worked made her books even more special for me. We don't often get to actually see the setting for a book we read, so it is a real treat when we can.

Louisa's town of Concord, Massacusetts is a beautiful place. There are so many things to see there besides the Alcott home. The first major battle of the Revolutionary War was fought there and you can see where that took place. Many other authors lived in Concord so you can visit there homes. It really is amazing that so many important events happened in this very small New England town! It is well worth a visit!

    AUSTIN,
I think you would like the REDWALL books, and PINHOE EGG-about 2 kids and a griffen.
    OLIVIA,
You would think BOY is funny. It's A.R. and according to the author is NOT (but is) an autobiogrophy.

    MRS. FISHER,
I sometimes like sequels but, it depends on the author. My favorite seris has sequels, but normally the author puts another story in between.they are adventures.
