What activities have you tried (or would like to try) in your independent workstations/centers that provide students the opportunity to practice fluency?  (Please share specifics including where others could find similar resources.)

On page 62, Debbie mentions the "link" between a student's ability to comprehend and their performance on standardized testing (such as EOG's).  Helping students to be successful on standardized tests is a school-wide responsibility...

*Older grade teachers--What could younger grade teachers do to better prepare our students for EOG's?
*Younger grade teachers--What do you already do to prepare students for EOG's and other standardized tests?
    * Do you have any other thoughts or ideas about how our school could better prepare students for standardized tests?

Merely answering comprehension questions is not teaching but assessing or providing practice.  In your grade level, what are some of the most effective ways that you teach comprehension skills?  How can struggling readers learn to comprehend in the same way good readers do? (Name specific activities or instructional strategies that others might want to try as well.)
