Phonics instruction and and Spelling ability go hand-in hand....
    * What do you notice about your students as "spellers"?
    * What are their strengths and weaknesses? What are the challenges?
    * What sort of spelling instruction works well in your grade level?

How do you teach phonics in your grade level?
    * What methods do you use in small group or whole group instruction? (see methods pg.117)
    * Where does the phonetic sequence that you follow come from?
    *
What else do you do in order to ensure that your approach is systematic? ("The key to a systematic approach is that there is a planned, sequential set of phonics elements, and these are taught explicitly and methodically." pg 117)

Think about how Phonemic Awareness Skills are taught in your classroom...
    * How are you currently assessing your students progression of Phonemic Awareness along the continuum?
    * How do you target the students who have not developed these skills?
    * What phonemic awareness tasks do all of your students engage in daily?
