What a GREAT group I have coming to third grade!  Thursday will be exciting just because it's so much fun to meet each other. Third grade is the MOST fantastic grade, IMO, because students are becoming more independent learners and exploring content deeper. Yes, there's multiplication....who will be the first to learn ALL the facts?.....and there's my favorite, cursive writing!!!....Science is a great journey of bones, stars plants and good 'ol dirt. Actually, reading is my very favorite because it can be thrilling and fun and mysterious and informative ALL AT THE SAME TIME!
This year our school has a theme, "Passport for the Future", which will encompass a thorough journey of learning. Your passport is knowledge and it takes hard work to build it. This year I'm incorporating a classroom theme, "Cooking Up A GREAT Year" because 1) I like to cook , 2) there's a huge amount a learning that can take place while participating, and 3) our classroom is the only classroom in the school connected to a kitchen (Don't you feel special already?).I'll try to incorporate some cooking activities as often as we can based on behavior, content and appropriateness. Hopefully we'll get some mom and dads to help equip the kitchen and help out in general.
Third grade is like everything else in life, it's as much fun and purposeful as you make it. I know we're going to have a super year. How are you feeling right now? What are you looking forward to in third grade? What questions do you have? What have you heard about it from your friends? Use the comment button to add your thoughts. I'll check it every day.
See you soon.

Yeah, Sarah! You're the first to comment on our Blog this year. I'm glad you're excited and enjoy cooking. The class will decide our cooking options throughout the year. See you Thursday!

I'm excited to be in your class. I like to cook, read, explore, and do research. I want to know if third grade gets tough?

    See you Tuesday.

Third grade does get tough...but in a great way...you get smarter! The key to success in third grade is to keep up with all the work. Memorizing the basic addition and subtraction facts and all of the multiplication facts takes time, effort and patience. We have 180 school days and we'll make every day count to get you prepared for fourth grade! Third grade is truly awesome!!!

    Dear Dr.E,
I already like 3rd.grade. I don't think I'm going to like the tests but I will try my best.
    Thank you,
