She is involved because shes the score keeper. Also because her mom is the coach of the team. She wanted to play baseball because she thought it was cool. Then they let her play and she did good. Also she seems commited to the team.

Tanya staying with baseball, even though she couldn't play proved she was not a quitter. She would be the kind of player I would want on my team.I would know that I can count on her.It would be a great team if all the players were like Tanya.

Staying involved with baseball, even though she can not play Tanya still enjoys being the score keeper because she gets to watch the baseball game. When the new boy moved in to the houes down the road named Mark he made a bet with Tanya because she really wanted to play she asked Mark if she could play and he did not know so he made a bet the bet was if Tanya got three strikes she had to go home but if she hit the ball she could play with him.

staying is involved with baseball even though she cant play she wants to prove to mark that girls can play baseball or any other boy sports it tells or shows that tanya she has a good belif about her and about being a tomboy i remember a time when i wanted to join basketball i wasnt allowed because i was a girl i had to practice and practice to show the boys that i was good and finally i was on the boys team this proves that girls can do just about anything like boys.

if your staying involed withbseball even though she cant't play is because they chose her to be score keeper for when they play a game

Tanya is saying to stay involded with baseball even though she cant play because back in the old days the boys wouldn't let the girls on their team. Tanya's mother was a good ball player and practiced with Tonya and her brothers. Tonya became very good! After pleading with the boys, they gave Tonya a chance to hit the ball and she did. Tonya proved she was a good ball player and was able to play baseball with the boys.

When something like this happens to me, I continue to insist that I can until I get the chance to show everyone that I can do it.

All good ideas, boys and girls...but remember that this is an OPEN-ENDED QUESTION! There are four requirements for your response, and one or two sentences just won't cover it.

Jake, you're getting better! You're focusing on the requirements, which I'm happy to see; however, be sure that you've answered the question that was asked.

Alyssa, great response...the only thing missing is details/examples from the story to support or prove your answer.

When you're thinking about this open-ended question, I want you to think about this: there's something you really enjoy doing and are very good at (like baseball for Tanya). People tell you that you CAN'T do it. How do you feel? You might be angry or think it's unfair...wouldn't your first instinct be to walk away and have nothing to do with it if people are saying you can't be a part of the game - or whatever - that you love? Tanya doesn't. Instead of playing, she sits on the sidelines keeping score. What does this tell you about her personality???

What it tells me is, she really loves this sport and just because shes a girl doesn't mean she can't play. And she tired of keeping score she whats to be out there with the boys. She want to prove that she good a baseball.so you can see, thats what I think her personality is.

Where you ever involved with baseball? Well in the story Tanya wanted to play baseball just like her mother, but there was no girls team, so she had to play with the boys. Tanya even wanted to know Mark better by giving him a challange. Her challange was to hit one of Mark's pitches. She got a strike on the first shot. On the second shot, she hit it straight into Mark's gut. Mark allowed her on the field because she was a good player. It feels bad because you are not allowed to play when you are a good player and you love to play.

Something Extra is that it would be a great team if all the players were like Tanya.

Staying involved with baseball even though she cant play basebell means that Tanya has courage, determenation and cofidence. She thinks that someday girl will play sports. She does not want to be a score keeper she wants to play baseball.Baseball is in her blood, her mom loves sports too and tries to act like the mom and the dad.

Your responses are getting better! Please focus on the details you include. Remember these should be specific examples from the story to prove your ideas...so if you say that Tanya has courage, what exactly did she do in the story that made you think this?

She sticks with the deal and gets to play baseball with the boys.

in the story it says''Tanya is the scorekeeper for her brothers team''. She knows thats unfair that she cant play so she made a deal with someone else named mark. She would never give up and I think she is a very nice person

Staying involved in baseball, even though she couldn’t play, showed that Tanya was very determined and confident. She was able to hit one of Mark’s pitches which proved that Tanya was determined to play. Even though most children were afraid to hit one of Mark’s pitches, she was confident enough to take a swing at his 90 mile per hour pitch. Her mother was also active in sports and she proved that she could be just like her mother. I remember in the story Rope Burn, Richard could not climb the rope in gym, but he also was determined and he kept on trying until he succeeded.

Staying involved with baseball, even though she can't play, shows that Tanya loves the sport. When Tanya gets rejected from the boys she feels sad and goes to keep score on the sideline. Even though she can't play she likes to follow the game. I think it is unfair that Tanya can't play baseball because it should not matter if your a boy or a girl. It should be based on your ability to play. I feel that Tanyas personality is strong-minded. Baseball is her passion.

Santino, remember the four open-ended requirements...can you name them all?

Carlos, good answer, but you've got to include details from the story.

Parth, I'm glad you enjoyed going to the library today - I did, too! The reading quiz will be next week, but not on Monday.

    Michael, excellent connection :)

Chris, still doing well...but focus on your details. Use the text book when you are able to do so.

Franklin, we'll work on essays. By June, you'll be an expert!! You did a great job with imperative sentences today. Keep up the good work :)
