Well, here it is, my very first blog! I'm excited about this latest addition to our web page and hope to use it to communicate with both parents and students throughout the school year.
I have to admit, I am also getting super excited for the new school year. I just got my class list last week and I can't wait to see all of the familiar faces and meet the new ones!
Second grade is so much fun! Here are just a few things you have to look forward to: Literacy genre and author studies, experience with a variety of writing styles (including small moments, biographies, fantasies, poetry, non-fiction and reports), in-depth science units (moon and stars, weather, sound and light, and plants and animals), interactive social studies units (history, economics, culture, government, landmarks, and communities), hands on math activities and projects, cursive writing...and much, much more!
For those of you I had in first grade, our room is stocked with tons of new books (picture books, chapter books, series books, fiction and non-fiction)! Don't worry, your old favorite are still intact! We'll also have many new additions in second grade including math tubs, cozy corner, reading response during literacy stations, your FROG binder and more. You many not even recognize the place!
