The students and I have had a great week. We already earned 50 marbles and got to have our first marble party! Friday was even more fun because we got to have Austin's birthday treat. Happy Birthday Austin!
The children came home with their book buddy bags on Friday with a book called Bump Bump Bump. Please help your child read it to you.Book Buddy bags should come to and from home everyday now. I will be adding more books soon.
This upcoming week we will be learning about each other. We have been signing a song called There was a Knock Knock Knock on my Door to help us learn our new friends. Be sure to ask your child the names of their friends.
In math, we will learn about 10 frames and learn a new game called Collect 20 together. We also are using our manipulatives - snap cubes, pattern blocks, and geoblocks.
We also will be starting to learn about the Daily Five. The Daily Five is our time of the day where children work with reading and writing independently while I meet with reading groups. It will take us about 5 weeks before we have all the parts of Daily Five introduced.
Thank you to all the parents who signed up to be classroom volunteers. I know you are anxious to start working in our classroom. I ask for a little patience concerning volunteering. I want to get the students comfortable with our classroom routine before I have parents come in. Thank you fro understanding. I will send home a tentive schedule in a few weeks, so plan on starting volunteering by the middle to end of September.
Finally, I want to thank you for the great start to the year. Without your commitment to your child and our classroom we would not have had such a wonderful first week. I love your children already and am looking forward to working with you this year.
