I was able to predict all the deaths and events in this movie. i was able to predict these deaths because everytime they went up to fly and fight some one got killed and it was bound to happen. The examples that clued me in were the fighters getting shot at and killed everytime they went up to fight. There was no chance of all of them survivng
I think this film is ony somewhat predictable. One of the times this movie is predictable is in the beginning where they introduce all of the men that later on met up to become the flyboys. It is easy to predict that they will become the flyboys because it introduces them in a way that shows that they will be important characters. Usually movies show all of the main characters in the first few parts of the movie. However, the reason why it is only somewhat predictable is because there aren't many clues given to help predict who will win during the dogfights which play a large role in the film.
I was able to predict some of the interractions between the characters based on the socioeconomic backgrounds given. For instance, it was easy to see that there would be issues between the yuppie Lowry and the black boxer Skinner, but that the rancher from Texas wouldn't care, as people in the West were generally too focused on survival to care much about race. It was also easy to see that Rawlings would develop into the leader of the group, as he was focused on more intently than the others. From the first time he met Lucienne, it was clear that there would be a relationship there. Cassidy's character is predictable and relatable to a lot of other movies, as is the Black Falcon's. It was obvioius from the historical content that many of the pilots would die, but I had a hard time determining which ones. Ned, however, being shown as a delicate character, was clearly about to be killed as he stood in the clearing screaming and waving his arms.
I can honestly say i was not predicting any of the poeple to die but i did predict correctly that they would eventually be able to enter the pub. The elements of foreshadowing that clued me in were moslty just my opinon of what i thought would happen. There really wasn't much to clue the audience in so my opinions of what i thought hollywood would do did become true.
I was able to predict the romance between Rawlings and the french girl. Obviously, after she took care of him and he gave her the flower, he was going to see her again. Rawlings seems like the type of person who doesn't give up very easily, and I can see him still persuing her. Another thing I was able to predict was when Vernon Toddman dies. The director had him act stupid enough once he realized he actually landed his plane. He got out and jumped around waving his hands in the air when I would think he would realize no matter what honor they're supposed to fight with, he should still be hiding from the enemy. At the very least he should have laid on the ground. No one acting like that in movies generally stays alive for very long.
I do feel that some of the deaths in this movie were predictable. The main character who had the love intrest on the side hasnt died yet which was one of my predictions. He is gaining success by getting the most kills out of his group so i think that he will stick around for a little while. I also guessed that the man who couldnt shoot the machine gun and crashed into a tree, would die.I figured he would get shot down though, rather than land and get shot. It was ironic and unexpected so it was a twist to the prediction.
One of the deaths that seemed predictable was during the first mission of Escadrille Lafayette. Right at the beginning, the French farm girl, Lucielle, counts the aircraft as they soar off on their mission. This instantly provides the feeling that this event occurs often, and usually results in many casualties. Therefore, the audience knows that someone is going to die. When the pilot's craft is ripped by gunfire, and begins to spit out smoke, suspense builds. The audience is certain that he is going to perish, but he barely manages to land the ruined plane in a field. Just as the audience breathes a sigh of relief when the pilot emerges unharmed, a German fighter guns him down. This unexpected, yet foreshadowed, event helps to give the audience the same feeling of shock and horror that Rawlings experiences at the death of his fellow pilot.
I knew that the main character would go after the woman he thought was a prostitute. It was obvious by the way he talked to her and thought she was pretty. As far as deaths go, they have not been so shocking yet. It was obvious a few people would die, but I expected a really dramatic death (and still do). Also, I predict the Red Baron to get killed at the end. The biggest surprise was the way he chose NOT to kill the French Pilot and just saluted him.
I felt that some deaths in Flyboys were predictable. During the flying scenes when they are in battle shooting at the Germans, it was easy to predict who was giong to die. One death that was unpredictable was when the German pilot swooped down and killed one of the French pilots whiile he was on the ground. One scene in particular that surprised me is the scene when the German lokoed like he was going to koll the French pilot but he did not.
