I apologize. November  came and went so fast that I never posted about all the fun things the students have been doing. Now December is almost gone. I will be posting pictures from Halloween, our Thanksgiving dinner and tree decorating soon. This week is just as busy. We have a mall trip, holiday celebrations and much more. Check back Friday for some updates.

The kids are very excited for Halloween. Every morning, they want to count how many more days until Halloween. I'm excited to see all the costumes they have been telling me about. In our excitement, we have had a lot of fun things to do while we learn. We wrote a Halloween story last week. Val came and told us a Halloween story on Tuesday. Then we practiced reading our Halloween story in ASL with Val. Yesterday, our middle school friends read us some great Halloween stories.  Finally today, we carved our pumpkin!  It was a lot of fun.

I apologize for the lack of updates. Two weeks ago, I was out sick all week except for Friday.

Last week was a quiet week in kindergarten. We went on a leaf hunt after reading the book Fall Leaves Fall. October, Blake is Star of the Month. We read his favorite story and ate his favorite snack, Kit Kat bars. On Thursday, we went to the school's tv studio to record the pledge to the flag to be broad casted in the school in the mornings.

This coming week is a busier one. Wednesday our Middle School friends will be coming to read with us. Our Halloween celebration will be Friday. We will have trick or treating, a hay ride and class party.

Today's trip to the farm was a big success. We couldn't have asked for better weather. We learned about honey bees and saw the apples being washed. We learned about different vegetables. We saw lots of vegetables planted in the ground. We took a hay ride around the farm and saw different animals. There were some pigs, goats, a turkey and some llamas. Then it was time for lunch. We got apples and apple cider from Trax. It was delicious.

When we arrived back at school, a special surprise was waiting for us. The Stanley Cup was here to visit. The kids were so excited. We only had a short time with the cup so we did a group picture. No time for individual pictures.

I apologize for the lack of blog in the last two weeks. We have been busy in kindergarten! Last week, we worked hard learning about the fives senses. We made milk shakes after practicing identifying objects that are noisy, quiet and soft. We tasted and identified a lemon, lime, honey, crackers and pretzels as salty, sour or sweet. Pictures will be posted. We also read with our middle school friends.

This week we have been working on the farm unit to prepare for our trip to Trax Farm on Thursday. The kids are excited and already talking about what size pumpkin they plan to pick. Today, we made pudding this afternoon. Then we enjoyed our "mud" and animals for a snack.

Monday, high school students came to visit us. The visitors are meant to be language examples for the students. They will visit us monthly. This month, we practiced turn taking and asking proper questions. Next month, the students will play games and continue interacting.

Farm trip is Thursday, I will take pictures and post them as soon as possible. Friday is our Heroes Kick Off program for this year.

It was a busy week last week. I just now have had the opportunity to blog. The students have continued growing their sight word vocabulary. Thursday was Constitution Day. We discussed rules of a classroom and why they are rules. The best thing of all last week was that Thursday morning, Stomp came to our school to perform. The kids all loved it. Each one sat in awe of the dancers. This week we will start talking about Fall, finish up our All About Me theme and prepare to have you in the classroom on Friday.

Hope to see you at Open House Friday!  Please let us know if you are planning to attend.  We are trying to get a head count for the activities.

HELLO Parents!  We have had a busy Wednesday and it's only lunch time.  This morning we had our morning circle and math time. Then we had friends from the middle school come read with us. WE LOVED IT! Our friends picked the books to read and we just loved them. We have Learning Center/library soon, we are hoping to find the same books.   After our friends read with us, we decided we want to learn to read ourselves.  We like reading with our moms and dads but think it would be cool to read alone!  Our first three words this year are  a (1 boy, 1 girl, 1 marker), my (my shoe, my hearing aid, my chair) and I ( I like, I want).  This afternoon is going to be filled with the Learning Center, gym and some social studies.

Our vocabulary words are added to the list. Check back soon for some pictures of reading with our friends.

It is so hard to believe the first week of kindergarten is finished! I see some people are visiting the site. GREAT!  I will be posting some pictures soon. We have been so busy, we haven't taken many pictures. The children worked hard ALL week. We did a lot of practicing the alphabet, numbers, shapes, and our names. I wanted to get a baseline of where each student was in the learning process. We read David Goes to School by David Shannon. It is a great book. The kids enjoyed it. We will be reading more David stories this year. Next week, we will start All About Me as a theme. There will be some homework. :-)

In addition, I apologize for a misspelling on the first blog. I meant entry not entery.

Welcome to kindergarten. I am excited to work with your children this year. I have heard wonderful things about each of the students. Please check the blog weekly. A goal I have is to write at least a weekly entery for you to stay informed.
