The kids are very excited for Halloween. Every morning, they want to count how many more days until Halloween. I'm excited to see all the costumes they have been telling me about. In our excitement, we have had a lot of fun things to do while we learn. We wrote a Halloween story last week. Val came and told us a Halloween story on Tuesday. Then we practiced reading our Halloween story in ASL with Val. Yesterday, our middle school friends read us some great Halloween stories.  Finally today, we carved our pumpkin!  It was a lot of fun.

I apologize for the lack of updates. Two weeks ago, I was out sick all week except for Friday.

Last week was a quiet week in kindergarten. We went on a leaf hunt after reading the book Fall Leaves Fall. October, Blake is Star of the Month. We read his favorite story and ate his favorite snack, Kit Kat bars. On Thursday, we went to the school's tv studio to record the pledge to the flag to be broad casted in the school in the mornings.

This coming week is a busier one. Wednesday our Middle School friends will be coming to read with us. Our Halloween celebration will be Friday. We will have trick or treating, a hay ride and class party.

Today's trip to the farm was a big success. We couldn't have asked for better weather. We learned about honey bees and saw the apples being washed. We learned about different vegetables. We saw lots of vegetables planted in the ground. We took a hay ride around the farm and saw different animals. There were some pigs, goats, a turkey and some llamas. Then it was time for lunch. We got apples and apple cider from Trax. It was delicious.

When we arrived back at school, a special surprise was waiting for us. The Stanley Cup was here to visit. The kids were so excited. We only had a short time with the cup so we did a group picture. No time for individual pictures.

I apologize for the lack of blog in the last two weeks. We have been busy in kindergarten! Last week, we worked hard learning about the fives senses. We made milk shakes after practicing identifying objects that are noisy, quiet and soft. We tasted and identified a lemon, lime, honey, crackers and pretzels as salty, sour or sweet. Pictures will be posted. We also read with our middle school friends.

This week we have been working on the farm unit to prepare for our trip to Trax Farm on Thursday. The kids are excited and already talking about what size pumpkin they plan to pick. Today, we made pudding this afternoon. Then we enjoyed our "mud" and animals for a snack.

Monday, high school students came to visit us. The visitors are meant to be language examples for the students. They will visit us monthly. This month, we practiced turn taking and asking proper questions. Next month, the students will play games and continue interacting.

Farm trip is Thursday, I will take pictures and post them as soon as possible. Friday is our Heroes Kick Off program for this year.
