7th ELA classes took a short Outsiders Ch. 01-02 quiz today. Then we reviewed the parts of speech in a Jeopardy game to prepare for the test tomorrow. Classes were also given an opportunity to preview the test and ask questions about the test before tomorrow. We finished the day by continuing The Outsiders. 2nd period GATE practiced identifying the parts of the sentence. We then read "Camp Harmony," an excerpt from an autobiography by a Japanese-American living at an internment camp during WWII, by Monica Sole. We finished off the day by brainstorming ideas to write our own orginal memoir. 5th period GATE wrote an in-class essay defining man-versus-self conflict and connecting it to three of our readings from this quarter. This class should read "Camp Harmony" for homework.
