7th ELa classes learned a new word: oust which means to eject; to force out; to banish. We then discussed qualities of heroes and set about creating an original hero, god, or goddess. We continued our studies by reading "Orpheus, the Great Musician" about the Greek hero, Orpheus. GATE classes completed a short WWW#13 exercise. We then reviewed comma conventions by writing a short story that included all the rules of using commas. Students finished the day by breaking up into literature circles, assigning roles in their groups, and beginning to read either The Diary of Anne Frank or Night.
