We are reading "Hatchet" this week in our Reading Textbook. It is an excerpt from the novel by Gary Paulsen. There is no extra vocabulary for this week or next. We will be reading this excerpt together and will take the selection test for it on Monday and Tuesday of next week. We will then be working on our study guide for the Semester Exam.

*Please read the "Mark your Agenda Page" for the dates of the Semester Exams and what else is going on around WWMS!*

Students will be starting an expository non-fiction selection in their textbook entitled, "Egypt". They will be working on some activities that will correlate with their Social Studies class as well. This selection is alot of fun, and the activities are always a hit with the kids. Students should come to class everyday with their textbook--ready to go. Students should also be READING every night, studying their vocabulary and looking over their DRP!. Every 4th class, students will take the DRP quiz. They are extra credit, and all points earned--help improve their grade!

I hope everyone had a great and relaxing Fall Break. The students and I had a long talk today---about doing things different this 9wks: not waiting until the last minute to do assignments, not relying completly on RICA and reading at least 15 minutes every day--to get their novels done!

I know they can do it!

Today we cleaned out our binders to start the 9wks "fresh". We went to the library to check out new books for their 1st due date (Check the "Mark your agenda" page).

We started a new vocabulary set w/ index cards--so they should be working on those at home if they didn't finish in class!
