Yeah! First post! But any way... What I think it means is that a true moral that comes from any crucial event that happens in human history deserves to be treasured to no extent and that history is very important and is to be looked upon with no bias point of view and only with understanding

Yes, i fully agree because most of the history that we learn now days has been streached to some degree. We should value the true pieces of history so we can learn from the true history.

I agree with this quote because history will always be important no matter what. History if the thing that defines our world. History is also important because we have to learn from out mistakes. It will always be valuable to our world.

I agree with this quote because it is very rare for you to get information about history that is genuine. So when you get that type of information it is very valuable.

  • DR3

I think it is saying that a rare event is very valuable to us all because it comes around so scarcely. Things that everyone assumes everyone else knows about (such as 9/11, the civil war, etc.) happen within a span of many years- and many years in present time is a lot more widely spread than many years as we look upon it in the past.

  • DR 3

I agree with this quote because the world today is so full of lies that to know a the truth about an event that has taken place in history can be valuable. Unless it's one of those useless dates like on May 9, 1984 the Chicago White Sox and the Milwaukee Brewers played the longest baseball game going eight hours and six minutes. But who looks up that stuff any way?

    9/10/2009 4:55:23 PM
  • RV3

This means even tiniest bit of true history is important. Like George Washington, he never cut a cherry tree and people belive that to be true. So yeah...

    9/10/2009 6:40:26 PM
  • CM3

Yes, I agree with the quote because history is so valubile good or bad. We need to know this information so we do not repeat them in the future. Just like Napolinain Lost most of his army when he tryed to defeat the Russian's in the winter.
Hitler lost decisive battles on the Rurisan front durning the winter. That if won that battle. The world could be changed forever. That is why Knowledge, History is inportiant for the world to know.

I think that it means to always do your best. Because you want to be remembered in a good way.

I agree with this quote because it is hard to find some history and you will be very lucky if you find history. If you find some kind of history it will be very valuable in the future.

I think he is trying to say that everything is history but not every piece of history is so important that it lasts for ever and when it does its something rare.

  • LL 3

That is such a cool quote...i totally agree with this quote because history is part of our past and it changes our future so the more history we know the better our future will be. So anything about history that we can pick up or find is a rare treasure.

I believe that the good things, as well as the bad, that happen in history should be preserved and never fogotten by the people of America.

I agree because it is very difficult to find the truth in history through the tangled web of lies and exaggerations that we commonly find today. I also think that the quote means that history is valuable should you happen to find the truth and should be treated as such.

I think it means that history is extremely important, and I agree with it because we can always look back on history to help us with problems and such today.

I agree with this quote because history can change from all the different points of view like in the revolution England thought we were traders but we were patriots who got our freedom from England. So history changes immensley over an amount of time and depends on who you ask. That is my interpretition of the quote

    9/11/2009 6:22:52 PM
  • D.B 8

I also agree with this quote. Even if it is only a small piece of history it is important.
Even today we reflect off of small pieces of history. When we keep up with history it helps keep us from making mistakes that people have already made before us. If we just did the same thing they did the world would not progress. We learn from our mistakes and that strongly shapes the world.

    9/12/2009 8:50:40 AM
  • J.D. 8

I totally agree with all of you, how can you know who you truly are if you don’t know how everything came about or were you come from? So yes history is very valuable to us, yet so rare because it still more important pieces to be found.

    9/12/2009 9:02:13 AM
  • B.T/5

I agree with this quote because hearing or finding a true statement about history is so hard to find, that when you actually get a fact of history, It's very valuable.

    9/12/2009 1:18:42 PM
  • AD3

I agree with this quote because with all of the media we have in our society it is very rare for an actuall piece of genuine history to come along. It is true that when a historical event occures, we should take notice in what it is because history tends to repeat itself and we can learn many things from past faliures or successes of our fellow Americans.

    9/12/2009 2:43:27 PM
  • A.C. 3

I agree with this quote because if we don't study our past we are doomed to making the same mistakes in the future. I belive this quote means that there is a lack of true history in the world, so when you do stumble upon a pice of genuine history, its should be absorbed because it is valuable and sacred. There are so manny lies in this world and our history shouldn't be one of them.

    9/12/2009 6:47:28 PM
  • AT3

I agree with this quote because in the quote it says "genuine history is a thing so rare and is always to be valuable." And today genuine history from say,1780, that you find the real truth to would be rare, and you should value that.

    9/12/2009 9:41:14 PM

History is invaluable and should always remain important. It helps to keep us grounded and not obsess about the present.

    9/12/2009 9:49:15 PM
  • LL8

I agree because true history is history that has not been influenced or changed by people and is valuable because history has a tendancy to repeat itself, even if its a small amount.

    9/13/2009 9:16:23 AM
  • CC3

I think this quote is very important because hitory for most people today is " Oh did you see what <insert celebrites name here> or "did you hear about what new rapper commited a federal crime". Plus, most people who claim to understand important historical probably hear one sentence on the daily news each morning, and sadly most of those people are paid to make some of the people in those stories who did bad things sound like a saint or the people who did good things sound like a demon. As a result of the above things most people will only see a total untruth based on an important thing, or they will see a very blurred version of the truth, and because of that we must cherish the actual true pieces of history we get.

    9/13/2009 9:32:33 AM
  • M.B.3

I believe that the quotes means that when you truly encounter actual history, like it hasn't been changed or based on one’s own opinion like a lot of history is these days, but it's the real stuff, it’s going to be worth a heck of a lot more.

    9/13/2009 11:06:24 AM
  • JP 3

I strongly agree with this quote because it talks about how history will always be important to you. History is so important because we have to learn from are mistakes in the past and do something better or different in the future.

  • JG5

I agree with this quote becuase their is lots of history in the world that we found but their is lots of history that we have not found. so anything that is good legit history we should take notice and value it.

I strongly agree with everyone's comments I've read. Just think about it, everything that happened in the past, will only happen once. So cherish every little bit of history we still have. Cowboys won haha!!!!!:)

I consider genuine history to be an event that drastically changed human life. This is why it is so valuablel.

  • BS8

If it has anything do with agreeing or disagreeing, I'd say both, neither, and one of the two. Because really, what is history other than facts compiled together that we used a few notes or letters to recreate? History itself is history because history is nothing but educated guesses that people with smart backgrounds decided to say were true. And if that's all that history is, then what's real and what isn't and how much of our lives and pasts are merely fabrications? Quite a lot probably. "There is no truth to the rumor that Ed McMan went on the wagon and broke it."
So do I agree? One hundred percent. It's more of a fact and less of an opinion nowadays.

This quote means that the smallest parts of history could so important in many ways.Althought it might be rare to occur very often , it still genuine.

This qoute means that the smallest part of history is big later on in life in many ways.Although this might not occur very often, its still genuine.

  • Hm5

Obviously, this quote means that factual history is hard to come by. Some significant events from our past have been changed dramatically over the years, making it crucial when we do find a bit of truth within these events. Strangely, I'm quite puzzeled on why people are somewhat morphing this simple quote into something more than it really is.

I believe that this quote means that any piece of history you learn is very important and you should cherish it.

  • TA3

I think this quote is important because if you don't know the actual facts then what you know if worth nothing.... NO!!! Is Nothing!! Because the real stuff is the rare stuff and that stuff is the best stuff. The history you know today will probably have more sentimental value in the future.....maybe
The smallest piece of actual fact of this great nation history will go down in this great big fascinating world's history, forever and ever. So basically to sum it all up this quote meant that the actual realistic facts are going to mean more to the world farther down the line in history ... you know just in case the end of the world comes and the aliens want the information on our great nations past!!!!

I think that this quote means, no matter what you learn in History it will always be valuable. Even if you think it isn't important or, that you will never use it in life, you will and it is important. Although you won't use it every day it is still good to know, and you will use it in life eventually.

I agree with this quote as it states many true things in such small words (except for morsel i had to look that one up). I think that just a tiny piece of true history is a worth so much more than handfuls of lies pretending to be history. When you discover a piece of genuine history, be sure to treasure it, as it will never be found again. It is the one and only of it's type, remember that. I definitely agree with this magnificent quote (i also agree with the idea that chocolate milk comes from brown cows :D).

i think this means history will reapeat its self so later on it will be more improtant to the presant than the past

I think that the quote means that thomas jeferson was of the opinion that much of history was not in fact genuine. He beleived that others were putting their own spin on what they think is genuine history. I overall disagree with him especialy because I beleive that alot of history isn't rare in fact it is common, it is happening every day! Not a lot of people realize that history is being made every day. Some examples of everyday history being made are, stories you hear on the news like a celebrity's death, child's kiddnapping, or a horrific murder.

  • EW8

In truth i agree with what this quote has to says.
History isn't just placed in front of you. It is something extremely important to be with you. If you didn't care about history you would make the same mistakes as they did in the past. Knowing that history is important, you should focus a lot on history.

  • AHC5

I agree very strongly about this quote, that genuine or original history is a rare thing these days. Moreover, that to learn the real history is very valuable, because then we learn from our own and our predecessor's mistakes.

  • JM8

I believe that this quote means that when some one does something that has a great impact or effect on society that it will never be forgotten, or if some one does or discovers somehing new, even if they are not recognized at the time later in life they will some how be remembered or looked up to.

I agree because it's more valuable to have a little piece of information that is accurate rather than having a lot of information that is not correct.

I agree with Thomas Jefferson. I think the quote means that a part of unique history is so rare and has high value. Appreciate things that happen rarely.

I think that this quote means that genuine history is so rare and important that it should never be forgoten.I think it also means that, although the past is important ,the present is just as important.

I believe that the quote means that even a little bit of history or antique quality about it can be worth a lot of money or have sentimental value.

I believe that this quote applies to every single living person every second of the day. Nothing you do will every happen again the same way twice That saying nobody's perfect (I gotta work it!), and everyone needs to learn from our mistakes. Don't judge someone by what they do; perhaps they don't know better. You won't know what to do with yourself if you don't study history and gather information to be considered "right" in this planet of mistakes we call Earth

    9/15/2009 7:58:48 PM
  • ZK6

I agree with the quote and feel that the meaning is that untouched and unchanged history is rare to uncover.

  • AT3

Yes!I agree with this quote.I think it's trying to tell us that history is very important and no matter what we shouldn't forget. In life we look back in the past to give us some sense of guidence or clues to see how life was for people back then. And to also see how we can leave a imprint or legacy so that people in the future can see how we lived.

I think that this quote means that history can be difficult at times but even though it is complicated, history is very important and it should never leave this world or the human mind.

    9/16/2009 8:46:43 PM
  • A.D.L.5

If history is ever forgotten, then we could make the same little mistakes we did in the past. History should remain in the universe to change the way we look at certain things and we won't be able to make the same mistakes EVER again.

    9/16/2009 8:49:24 PM
  • J.A 8

I believe that the quote above is most absolutely correct. I am lead to this conclusion because without history we can't learn from our mistakes. Without mistakes you can't learn from them. When you can't learn from them bound to repeat them over and over again.
