Well if they actually did become independent from England and some other country decided they wanted to take other America now that it was on its own... Well they could without even putting up a fight, because the mother country wouldn’t be there to back them up and they would've just got through fighting for independence with great Britain so they'd have some problems trying to fight back after a war like that.
I think the main reason some colonists were against getting independance was because they were scared how Britain may react and that there may be punishment for it because why would you be on the British side after what they did to you: all the taxes, undersitmating them, using them to pay their debts, and even killing 5 colonists! That's something that can't be tolerated.
I think the colonists should show more appreciation for England, because, though they have raised taxes, it's to pay off their part of the French and Indian war, that the colonists paid an active role in. Also, the situation is ten times worse in England, so they should appreciate what they already have and not take it for granted.
Although they did not particularly like the increase on taxes, everywhere you go there is going to be some sort of a glitch. There is not one place on this planet that is perfect. So, Loyalists didn't consider the unfair taxes and regulations a good reason for rebellion. Another reason to stay loyal to England was that they expected Britain to win and wanted to gain favor. Some Britains remained loyal to the king because they were officeholders and would lose their positions.
Well, the loyalists really only have one reason, and that is to remain loyalto the king. Its pretty lame.
