This is the Blog Spot for Barbara O'Connor's How to Steal a Dog You must read the entire book before you can add a comment here.

A meaningful Blog will include a variety of opinions and a rich discussion of a topic.  This Blog will give students a chance to share their unique views about this year's Bluebonnet books.

Here are some ideas for comments:

  • Describe something that happened to make Georgina find or lose hope.
  • Tell about when Georgina's plan starts to fall apart.
  • Describe one funny or surprising thing from How to Steal a Dog.
  • Compare one character from How to Steal a Dog with someone you know.
Once several students have shared their own comments, you may want to respond to those comments.  You may respond to your classmates with courtesy.  Make sure to add some sort of additional insight, though.  (Don't just say, "I agree.")

This is a password-protected, secure Blog.  Only Forest Creek Elementary students and staff members are authorized to read and use this site.

i liked the charecter toby he was funny and to me he never did what i thoutght he would. I also liked how she kept notes and in the end she told that she stoll the dog and in the end i think thats what it is all about.

I felt sad for Georgina when her plans that were perfectly thought through failed. For example, when she realized that the owner of the dog she stole would not be able to pay $500.
The steps Georgina wrote in her notebook were very funny and help show her personality a lot.

In lawn boy the buisness starts out small but he ends up having a lot of hope. So if you have hope you can do good in life.

If I ever stole a dog my conscience would never ever let it go. I wish that the author had gone more into Georgina’s friend Luanne. My favorite character is Mookie because he was mysterious and seemed like he was going to steal Willy. At parts he seemed smarter than Georgina and her funny plans!

I realized that not everything was going to be perfect and was quite suprised at the reactions from Georgina about how she thought that everything was going to be perfect. I really didn't expect it.

I liked the way the author describes the inside of the house which belonged to the owner of the dog. I could actually visualize the house.

Toby reminds me of my little brother. Just like Toby, he always asks me, Why? Why? Why?

Toby reminds me of my neighbor, Carter, because he always is wild and he always wants to know everything, even though sometimes he forgets it.

I think one surprising thing in the story was that Georgina turned herself into Willie's owner.

I think Mookie is very smart, because he has a lot to say but never gets boring and shrinks his speech down. If I was Georgina, I would be a lot nicer to Carmella because I bet without Willie, her life is worse than Georgina's. I would have put Willie in a more comfortable place than the rusty old porch, because whenever I read that Georgina goes back to check on Willie, I was always afraid that it would say that Willie had a splinter. I think that Georgina's family is kind of like the family in the book "Fly Away Home" because the boy and his dad live at the airport.
