This is the Blog Spot for Nancy Ruth Patterson's The Winner's Walk You must read the entire book before you can add a comment here.

A meaningful Blog will include a variety of opinions and a rich discussion of a topic.  This Blog will give students a chance to share their unique views about this year's Bluebonnet books.

Here are some ideas for comments:

  • Compare The Winner's Walk to another book about a kid and his or her pet.
  • What does Case learn about himself in The Winner's Walk?
  • Describe the most exciting part of your favorite chapter.
  • Does the author feel sorry for Meg?  How might you describe Meg's personality?
Once several students have shared their own comments, you may want to respond to those comments.  You may respond to your classmates with courtesy.  Make sure to add some sort of additional insight, though.  (Don't just say, "I agree.")

This is a password-protected, secure Blog.  Only Forest Creek Elementary students and staff members are authorized to read and use this site.

I liked the part when Case got his dog. I have always wanted a dog, so if I could be anyone in the story, I would be Case.

That is sad when he breaks his arm. His dogs name is the same as mine.

Case learns a valuable lesson. I loved how he tries everything until he finds what he is good at.

I feel bad for Meg because she can't walk, but it is happy that she has dogs that can help her.

I admire Case to make such a hard decision to give the dog to someone who needs it more than himself. I could never give my dog away I love her WAY to much!

I think that Case is a good person overall because he gives the dog to someone who needs it more than himself. I could never do that to my dog. My favorite character is Noah because he can do amazing dog tricks.

This book shows how animals can help people through hard times, a fact that I think is disregarded in our society.
