This is the Blog Spot for Patricia Lauber's What You Never Knew About Beds, Bedrooms, and Pajamas You must read the entire book before you can add a comment here.

A meaningful Blog will include a variety of opinions and a rich discussion of a topic.  This Blog will give students a chance to share their unique views about this year's Bluebonnet books.

Here are some ideas for comments:

  • Describe how one or two illustrations make What You Never Knew About Beds, Bedrooms, and Pajamas funnier.
  • How could a teacher use What You Never Knew About Beds, Bedrooms, and Pajamas in the classroom?
  • Would this book be as meaningful to a kid in another country as it might be to American kids?
  • Make a short commercial explaining why we must read this book.  Or explain why we should not read it.
Once several students have shared their own comments, you may want to respond to those comments.  You may respond to your classmates with courtesy.  Make sure to add some sort of additional insight, though.  (Don't just say, "I agree.")

This book was easy and fun to read. It tells about the history of sleeping conditions, but it does not include African, Asian, Latin American, or Middle-Eastern history. It's nice to find out about pajamas, etc. through the ages, but quite a lot of the world (and thus, a lot of history) is left out, and everything is maybe a little too white... if you know what I mean...

This book was interesting,we noticed the Egyptians said the same thing as the late 1700's people in their pictures. This book showed some great illustrating.

I enjoyed this book alot.It was fun to read
and I noticed that it tells you about what
they used back then. Example: it supprised me when egypitans used headrest instead of pellows! I thought the comments were hilarious.

I hope that she makes a new book just like this.

This book is great. I like this book when it talked about the different shapes of beds. I also liked it when they showed the time line of all the pajamas. I liked how the colorgul drawings work with the different stories so well to make it great. A teacher can use this book to show some ancient history.

I liked that this book had a timeline. It showed a lot of interesting facts about bedroom and pajamas. My favorite part was when the Barbarian was smashig a bed. I would recommend this book to teachers to show for history.

This book seemed like a lot to read, but it was funny. I thought that I wouldn't be comfortable, sleeping with a headrest instead of pillows. If I wore a nightgown all the time, I'm sure I would get cold.

Beds, Bedrooms, and Pajamas is a very intersting book about the beginning and origins of beds and nightwear. But, I don't think it's quite good enough for the Bluebonnet Award, personally. I would like to see a bit more interest to the books and less fact. But, that's all opinion- maybe it's just not my type of book!

I did like the illustrations, though.

I thought this book was really funny. It also taught me stuff that I never knew about beds, bedrooms, pajamas. PS:I thought sleeping with no clothes on is gross!

I like this book because it taught me a lot about how other coltures used to sleep. Just by looking at the cover I kind of giggled. I also loved the illustrations.

i think this is a good book for younger kids to read all though it's a little bit long it has easier words for them. It has more beds than pajamas.thare are many beds.

I don't think that anybody should read this book because it wasn't very good. I didn't like this book because it was kind of gross (although they are real facts) and there wern't a whole lot of facts. Most of the facts weren't very good either.

I realy liked this book because it is cool to learn about what diffrrent people all over the world from about 9,000 years ago to the 1900`s.And today make their beds and homes. My fav. part is in the 1300`s to the 1400`s, when they had the royal beds in France. Well I hope you enjoy this cool entertaining book.
