If I could go back in time to prevent any catastrophe, it'd be the earthquake in Tai Wan, China that happened a few years ago. It was a huge quake and left many people suffering. Being able to prevent that would be the best. Alot of people lost many of their family and loved ones and a huge amount of people were left homeless. A bunch of people were greatly injured also. Probably everyone wished it diddn't happen so it would've been good to prevent it.

I would go back in time and prevent the storm of 1900. I would most likely do this because, I have read "Dark Water Rising" and learned what it was like during the storm. Also in the book the perspective is through someone's eyes who went through the storm and survived it. The person also went through alot of difficulties after the storm like the major shortage on supplies and water especially since the catasrophe was on an island. The main character in the book also experienced the dead bodies and deseases, and overall it sounds like a very hard experience to go through. I know I wouldn't want to go through that.

If I could go back in time and prevent a natural catastrophe, I would stop Mount Vesuvius from burying the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. It’s so tragic that such magnificent and historically famous cities were lost. Many lives were lost because of Vesuvius, and sometimes I wonder if Pompeii and Herculaneum would still exist today. But because of their loss, the world now has documentations and evidence of how people lived during the rise and reign of the Roman Empire.

If I could go back in time to prevent a great catastrophe I would stop the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. If he had not been assassignated, he would have continued to fight for the rights of black Americans. I believe that race relations would be more advanced today if he had survived.

I would prevent the 1900 hurricane because this particular event effected all of us directly. I know everybody can see the aftermath of the hurricane on the beach, in the houses, and the graveyard has grew a sizable amount. If that hurricane hadn't hit, Galveston might have been as popular as New York City. Also Galveston would've been the Capital of Texas. Now Galveston is a small island with little tourism. All I can say is Galveston will never be what it was.

If I could go back in time and prevent a great catastrophe, I would prevent the Black Death. The Black Death was a terrible plague that happened in the 1300's. The virus was caused by fleas that lived in the fur of black rats. As the rats traveled, they brought the disease with them, spreading it to many people. 25 million people died from the plague in Europe and Asia. It is very sad to know that so many people died from the Black Death. If it hadn't happened, these continents would probably be much more civilized today.

If I could go back in time and prevent a Natural Disaster, I would prevent 9/11. I think that was a very catastrofic disaster. I would want to save the hundreds of men and woman who worked there. I would warn then all, and try to get them all out as safe, and fast as possible.

If I could prevent any catastrophic event, I would prevent the terrorist attacks on September 11. Almost 3,000 people died because of the acts of 19 terrorists. It was a terrible day in US history and will not soon be forgotten. Also, if these attacks had been prevented, we might not be in the two wars that we are fighting right now. Many people around the world would have been saved if this catastrophic event had been prevented.

I think if I could prevent a catastrophic event it would be 9/11. So many people died, and not only at the twin towers, but at the pentagon too. They also had another plane headed toward the white house but the people on the plane gave up their lives and crashed it into a feild. So many people were lost just because of what a few people wanted.
That is why I would prevent the catastrophic event of 9/11.

Another catastrophic event that I would prevent would be the Holocaust. In Germany, after World II, the Nazis forced millions of Jews to work in concentration camps. About 6 million Jews were starved, worked to death, or killed in gas chambers at these camps. If this had not happened, millions of Jews would have been saved, and the war would not have been fought.

If I could prevent any catastrophic event, I would prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy. I would prevent it for two reasons. First, I don't think that anyone deserves to be murdered. I believe that murder is the worst crime that anyone could ever commit. Second, I believe that John Kennedy would have made one of the best presidents that the United States has ever had. If he was not assassinated, he could have made the USA a better place to live.

If I could go back in time and prevent any catastrophes, I would prevent the 1900 storm that happened in Galveston. There was so many live that got lost in that time period, and also so many homes that got destroyed too. The storm left people depressed for so long that there is still people right now talking about the horrible storm. So if it was up to me to control the weather I would go back and stop that from happening. Then the world population would probably be a lot higher then it is right now.

If I could go back in time and prevent a great catastrophe from happening, I would choose the Storm of 1900. I would choose this event because, I can imagine the hardships people in Galveston faced, during or after that storm. During or after the storm, I can also picture how numb people’s hearts were after they lost their loved ones. I can also imagine how hard it was for people with a shortage of water and supplies, after the storm. And, also that more than $30 million worth of property got damaged due to the storm, in today’s money that would be about $700 million. With all that money Galveston could’ve started on some new project to improve the city. Also, if the storm hadn’t struck, Galveston would’ve been the leading port, because of its natural harbor, instead of falling behind other ports. And if the storm hadn’t struck Galveston, Galveston could’ve been the New York City of Texas. Those are all the reasons why I would choose the Storm of 1900, if I can prevent a great catastrophe from occuring.

If I could travel to the past to prevent a catastrophic event, I’d try to stop the Titanic from sinking. I’d do that by taking a huge, modern passenger plane back to the past and try to convince the captain that his ship was about to hit an iceberg. If he’d listen, I’d fly the plane (or get my hired pilot to do that, seeing that I don’t have a flying license) right next to the ship or dock it on the deck, while passengers board the plane with their belongings. If the pilot thinks I’m just a thick-headed lunatic making up preposterous bedtime stories, then I’ll try to convince as many passengers as I can to get on the plane and I’ll fly them to New York myself, way ahead of schedule. Of course, if I couldn’t bring a plane back in time, I’d just scream at the top of my voice for everyone to crash the lifeboats (in an orderly manner) as tightly as possible. Even though the thousands of passengers would not all fit in the 20 itty bitty lifeboats on the Titanic, more than half of the people would’ve died, including me, even if I did make it in time to spread the word and save the day (supposedly). So, that would’ve had made it an even more tragic day in history, the death of me. *sniff, sniff*

If I could go back in time and stop a catastrophic event, I would have to prevent the 1900 Storm. This was a huge hurricane that killed over 8,000 people that lived and vacationed in Galvaston. I guess the reason this is the catastrophic event I picked was because I've learned about all the struggles that the people had to work through if they even survived. Thats why I would want to stop this catastrophic event.

A catastrophic event that I would prevent would be World War 2. The way I would prevent this, would be to arrest Adolf Hitler after World War 1 had ended. I would then put a German Officer, who did not want to take over the world, in his place. For example Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, who tried to kill Hitler in operation Valkyrie, would be very intelegent choice.

If I could go back in time, I would prevent one of United States most tragic event, 9/11. This happened on September 11, 2001. This event was four airplanes all coordinated to the same time to supposedly crash into three different places. The Pentagon, two into the Twin Towers, and the White House. Three planes succeeded but one, the one that was supposed to crash into the White House. The Pentagon was partly collapsed and ruined by fire. The Twin Towers collapsed in about two hours. This was a sad moment. Many people died and families lost their loved ones. That is why I would like to go back in time to stop this disaster from taking place.

Sorry about that. My dog ran through and hit some buttons with her paws.
If I could prevent a catastrophe, I would like to prevent starting my gymnastics career at AA Gymnastics Academy and begin at Legacy Gymnastics Academy Inc.
While attending classes at AA Gymnastics was fun and got me to where I am now, going to Legacy has greatly improved my abilities. I competed with AA for three years, and got twenty two medals. I competed with Legacy during one season alone, and got twenty eight. I feel that if I had started my dream at Legacy, I might be at a higher level. With going to the Olympics being my main goal, I'm determined to do the best I possibly can with the best coaches around.
I've put in a lot of hours, cried a bunch of tears with all the hard work, and have aquired so many injuries I lost count after fifty million. Gymnastics has been my life long dream, and it will be forever more. And everything begins with a good start; Legacy would have been that great start. So I think if I had not wasted nine precious years with blood, sweat, and tears at a place that wasn't the best, I might be more accomplished.(: -Ashtyn<3

If I could go back in time and prevent a great catastrophe, I would prevent the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Towers, the Pentagon, and Flight 93. In the 9/11 catastrophe, terrorists seized control of four airliners. The terrorists crashed two planes into the Trade Towers, causing huge fires. About two hours later, the towers collapsed. The third plane crashed into the Pentagon and demolished a section of it. The fourth plane, Flight 93, was headed to destroy the U.S. Capitol or the White House. The passengers forced the plane into a nosedive and it hit the ground, killing everyone on board. In the 9/11 catastrophe, about 3,000 people perished. I watched the attack on the Trade Towers on TV when I was four. I still remember seeing the first tower burning and the second tower getting hit by an airplane and bursting into flames. Like everyone else in the country, I was scared as I watched the event unfold. Confusion and fear swept throughout the country. Every airplane in U.S. airspace had to land and all international flights were turned back. This was the first attack on American soil since the bombing of Pearl Harbor on 12/7/41. After 9/11, the U.S. retaliated by starting two wars, one in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. The wars are still raging to this day.
I would prevent this catastrophe to save the 9/11 victims and to prevent the deaths of tens of thousands of people in the wars. People continue to die in the two wars.

If I could stop any catastrophic event from happening it would probably be the 1900 Galveston storm. I picked this event because it must have been a very difficult, not to mention a highly emotional time for the fellow Galvestonians. This storm is also pretty unusual of it's kind because as Isaac Cline quoted "It had none of the signs of a usual storm" for example no winds, no storm surge, and no clouds. It was basically the calm before the storm. It hit at high noon or so and then things started getting bad, debris were flying, water was rising, and of course people were drowning. Many left their destroyed homes to others to seek refuge. Finally the storm was over but the aftermath was too much to bear! There were mere slabs or rubble to identify what used to be flourishing homes. The damage cost was about 70 million dollars and then there was also the construction of the seawall and the raising Galveston’s elevation up to 17 feet to prevent further damage! Another problem was that people underestimated the storms capability and even when they had the chance to evacuate they didn’t go to the mainland, so there were way more deaths than Hurricane Katrina even though Katrina was stronger. So I think if I had warned the Galvestonians about the storm maybe, just maybe there may have been less deaths than those had occurred.

If I could prevent a catastrophe, I would prevent anything that crashed, burned, or perished on 9/11.On September ll,2001, Terrorists took control of four planes, and threatend to seize the three most important objects of business in America. The World Trade Center towers, which were the pinnacle of all trades involving the world,The Pentagon, which was the United States Department of Defense, and The White House, which was where President Bush resided. The terrorists crashed two of the planes into the World Trade Center causing a horrible wreckage and not to mention-death, They crashed another plane into the west side of the pentagon, killing 189 people in all.But thankfully, when the terrorists tried to crash into the White House, they didn't succeed because passengers tried to move the plane into another direction so it would'nt crash into it.I remember being picked up from school early and not understanding why.Little did I know, I would be watching people jump out of a crashing and burning building on that fateful day. I was mortified and so was the rest of the world. All in all, more than 3,000 people died. It was no help to start a war. That just made things worse. If the terrorist attacks were never planned, then we wouldn't be the terrified, worrisome, and grieving people we are today. We would never have such a horrible thoughts in our minds.

If I were to somehow prevent a great catastrophe, it would be the storm of the 1900s. I would stop it from happening because it is the deadliest natural disaster ever occurred. Between 6,000 and 8,000 people died, and it cost about 30 million dollars to repair the damages. I think the people didn’t deserve to die, but they had no warning. What I would do is I would tell them to evacuate as quickly as possible before the storm hit. This would have saved thousands of lives. In conclusion, I would prevent the 1900 hurricane from killing thousands of lives.

I would have prevented this event because it had a major impact on the American Society. If "The Great Depression" would have never happened I think that the Society today would in much better shape. I think that many more people today would have jobs, and that many items, such as food and water, would be cheaper.

If I Could Prevent a Terrible event from happening, I would stop the terrible terrorist attack on the twin towers on September 11, 2001. There was 19 Al-Qaeda terrorists whom hijacked 4 commercial air planes. Then went on a suicide mission to crash into the twin towers, and 2 other structures, the White House, and the Pentagon. Three attempts out of four succeeded. The infamous Twin towers collapsed within hours, while the pentagon didn’t suffer all that much damage. However, the White house was a failed attempt. If I could prevent this from happening, The World Trade Center would still be up. People might not have any fear of roaming the free streets or working in buildings. The American people may think that their country has a better security system. So, if I had stopped the attack, it would do America and its people good.

If I could go back in time and prevent a great catastrophic event from happening I would choose the Titanic. The titanic was a big steamship that set off for a long journey from Southampton, England to New York City. The ship held over 2,000 passengers plus a crew. What made this event so catastrophic, was on the night of April 14, 1912 the quoted, "unsinkable" ship, hit a massive ice burg which gashed the side of the ship. The Titanic began to sink, and while it was sinking they were trying to get as many people off the ship as safely as possible. One of the main problems that resulted in many deaths was that there were only 20 life boats. They were supposed to have at least 32 life boats to hold everyone on the ship, but they didn't. Since they knew they were short on life boats they let woman and children go first. Some of the life boats were lowered to the water without having the maximum amount of people on it, which was another reason more people died that night and early morning. Early hours of April 15, 1912 the Titanic was sinking under the freezing water of the Atlantic. Over 700 people out of around 2000 deceased that night from, drowning, injuries, hypothermia, un-able to survive without the proper food and water and the cold weather and plenty of more reasons. The remaining survivors were found buy the Carpathia, which got the distressed call when it was around 58 miles southeast from the Titanic. In 1985, scientists found the Titanic around 2 and half miles below the surface of the Atlantic and that’s when we received pictures of things people were dreaming to see. Now, scientists are able to go under the Atlantic with special devices that can explore the history of the Titanic.

If I could go back in time and prevent a catastrophe it would definately be the surgery i had on August 31, 2009. I definately have to say that it has to be the worst surgery I have ever been through. So many restrictions are applied where I can't do anything physical, or raise my arms above my head! For all you girls out there have you ever tried washing your hair or putting it up in a ponytail with your hands no higher than the topof your ears? I bet none of you have. Well speaking from experience it is a challenge when you are used to being able to move your arms freely. Another challenge for me is not being able to play sports. I love to play softball and I can't even swing a bat, run, or simply throw a ball right now. What do they expect me to do? Obviously they expect me to sit there and watch everyone else have all the fun! Well I don't find that very fair and you're probably thinking well life is'nt fair. So if you are thinking that you can just try to go through the surgery and not be able to do anything either. See how much you like it! And last but not least I cant even ride the bus! I have to say that I have the best bus in the whole school and I can't even ride it right now! Well hopefully someday here VERY SOON my doctor will realize that he is mentally and physically driving me crazy! I can not take this cruelty any longer! Hopefully I will be released soon. But this surgery would definately be the catastrophe I would prevent!

If I could go back in time to prevent a natural catastrophe, I would choose Hurricane Katrina. I chose Hurricane Katrina because I saw and heard what happened on TV after Katrina -- people standing on the roof with help signs, neighborhoods with houses that were flooded to the roof top, people crying for help, and dead bodies outside the Superdome. I was surprised that this happened in our country.
Everyone knew the hurricane was coming, and the people in New Orleans knew it too. Supposedly, when the people in New Orleans heard about a hurricane coming they should evacuate, but most people couldn’t because they were poor. They needed money for food, gasoline, and water, so the people with not much money were forced to stay where they were. We have technology, but technology can’t prevent a storm, it can only tell us when and where the storm will happen. The people that were trapped in their attic did not get help fast enough after the storm. America is the country that has the most powerful technology available, so we should have used it so we could have helped them evacuate and help prevent most deaths. Hurricane Katrina would definitely be the catastrophe I would like to go back in time and change.

If I could go back in time to stop a disaster I would stop the hurricane of 1900. It is very sad that 6,000-8,000 people died! I would stop this because the devastation was unbearable. It would have altered the future of Texas. Galveston would have been the leading port of Texas and a wealthier city. This would have changed all of our lives as we know them. I really do not have an idea as to how life would be now. But this is the reason that I would stop this disaster.

If I could prevent a catastrophe I would prevent the tsunami that occurred in December 2004. I would prevent that catastrophe because not only was it one of the deadliest natural disasters that occurred in history, the tsunami destroyed thousands of homes and coastal communities. I would want to prevent also because the tsunami killed about 230,000 people and lots were injured. Also the tsunami had cost a lot of money to fix the damages and it cost a lot of hard work. If the tsunami had not had hit, the areas might have extra money in their savings account or they could spend that extra money for research on how to be prepared for a tsunami. If the tsunami had not occurred I think these areas would be prospering and the people who would be living there would hopefully have a great life. I would like to prevent the tsunami because they would have a roof over their heads and a nice house to live in. They would also have family members around the kitchen table, and they would be happy they have their friends and family members with them.

Of all the catastrophes that have occurred in this world, I will have to say I would want to go back in time and prevent the sinking of the Titanic on April 15,1912. The Titanic was believed to have been so well constructed that it could sustain any amount of damage and still stay afloat. Late on the night of April 15, this theory was proved wrong in a very tragic way. The Titanic had a collision with a very large iceberg. Even though you would think this would get around the ship fairly quick, a lot of passengers were unaware of this catastrophe for quite a while. They sent out an SOS to neighboring ships. The Carpathia picked up their SOS and told them they were on the way. Sadly, by the time the Carpathia arrived it was too late. All that was left of the Titanic were lifeboats full of survivors. If I could prevent this day, many lives would be saved.

If I could go back in time and prevent one catastrophe from happening,I would stop Sudie's death from occuring. Sudie was my hamster. I got her on my 11th birthday. I remember that she had started sleeping more and more. Then one day I went to check on her, not that I expected anything unusual. She was up in a sitting position, but she didn't seem to be moving, or breathing. I fell into shock and, for a moment, I stopped breathing too. My sister reached in and poked Sudie, and she didn't move. By this time tears were already streaming down my face and sobs were bursting out of my mouth no matter how hard I tried to suppress them. I knew I'd never see her eat another strawberry, or take another sip of water, or even look up from her slumber as I opened her cage. I cried when Sudie died yet I am not crying now. I suppose its because I've already given her all the tears I can give. I really miss her. Goodbye Sudie, good luck!

I would choose to prevent the Columbine High School Massacre on April 20, 1999. It started when two armed students, Eric H. and Dylan K. planted two bombs inside the cafeteria, then went back to their cars. After the bombs failed to go off, the boys decided to go inside and see what had happened. As they went in though, they shot at students eating lunch outside. After a teacher saw the shooting, she (and other teachers) evacuated students to the library and other places. Eric and Dylan headed toward the library and killed people in there too, before committing suicide. Also, the two students taunted some of their victims before killing them.
I think that schools should have an alarm system so if there are weapons on the school campus, it can be taken away. Also, I would make several rooms in the school into “safe rooms” that have unbreakable doors, no windows, and other safety measures so that the bad guys cannot get in.
I would prevent this because this must’ve sparked some other people to also commit massacres at their school, like at Virginia Tech. I also think it is heartbreaking that thirteen defenseless people died, and many more people were scarred because of two teenagers. This is why I would choose to prevent the Columbine Massacre.

If I could go back and prevent a catastrophe, I would prevent the Titanic. I would choose the Titanic because nobody ever thinks about the Titanic when you say catastrophe, but it was a very important time in history. It helped us learn more about uncharted waters and icebergs. At first people thought however big the iceberg looks is how big it really is, but now we know that's not true. It was a very emotional time for people, whether they knew someone on the ship that didn't make it or someone who actually went through it and survived to tell the story. It's very hard to imagine yourself on the ship, to feel the scrape of the top of the iceberg and hear the screams of the children and their mothers trying to keep track of them so they can get in the same life boat as the ship sank. But the worst part is the people that couldn't get in life boats either drowned or before that could happen they froze to death. Even some of the people that did make it onto life boats still froze to death! It was definitely a tragedy. I hate to think how they felt being so cold and out of breath. This is one tragedy that was real and wasn't just a story that real people like me had to face. It would be amazing to know that you prevented such a catastrophe. That's why if I had to pick a catastrophe it would be the Titanic.

If I could undo one major event that happened in world, I would undo 9/11/2001. On that day in New York City, two highjacked planes crashed into the Twin Towers. The towers caught on fire and then collapsed before everyone could evacuate the buildings. I would undo do this event because I did some research and found out that over 2,700 people died on that day. The Twin Towers were the tallest World Trade Center in the country so it helped symbolize America's wealth.

If I could prevent any catastrophe, I would choose the tsunami that hit Sri Lanka in 2004 and many other countries in the Indian Ocean. It killed around 40,000 people. This is because I'm sure it deeply affected the people who survived and not just those who died. Most of the survivors' lost many friends and family members. They also did not have proper food or shelter.

If I could go back in time and prevent one catastrophe from happening, it would be the terrorist attack on 9/11. I would choose this because it took many innocent peoples lives. Kids lost their mothers and fathers. Many people live in fear of another attack. It also caused our country to go to war, and have many more American's die.

America has never been the same. If I could have prevented this from happening, those lives would not have been lost. I think life is harder for anyone who looks like the terrorist. People look at them differently now. This would not be happening, if I could have stopped the attack.

The United States has always been a strong country, and still is. I am thankful that the terrorist's attack did not destroy us like they thought it would. I pray that nothing like this will ever happen again.

I would definitely like to go back and somehow prevent "9/11". This is because SO MANY innocent people died that day. Few came out alive, which was very sad. Some were forced to jump out of windows and some were just completely trapped in their offices. When I heard about it, I couldn't believe it. I felt SO bad for those who had lost someone because of those two planes that were flown into each tower. I also feel very bad for those who were IN the plane.... That is why I would've wanted to go back and prevent 9/11.
