Have you started thinking about what happens after high school for your student?  It's never too early.  Round Rock ISD will be having a college fair with over 160 representatives from colleges, universities (2 and 4 year) and service academies, trade schools. and career and technical schools.  There's something for everyone.  The event will be at McNeil High School on October 5th from 6 to 8 pm.  Find out about what colleges and other schools require, what your child needs to be doing now to prepare and most importantly...get info on how to pay for it all!

    Hope to see you there.

Hopewell has its first school dance of the year coming up on Friday.  For many parents of our 6th graders that can often mean a lot of questions.  So, here's some helpful information:  Hopewell divides its dance times up so tht grade levels have an opportunity to be together.  Sixth grade's time is from 6:30 to 8pm, 7th grade is 7:00 to 8:30pm and 8th grade is 8:00 to 9:30pm.  This helps us with traffic at pickup time and drop off time.  Dances are chaperoned and administrators and our School Resource Officer are also on hand during the dances.  Students are expected to abide by the school dress code and rules and students may not leave and re-enter the dance.  Our DJ has been consulted with about music choices and many of the selections encourage line-dancing.  Hopewell PTA seeks to provide a learning environment where students may practice age-appropriate social behaviors.  We also just want to all have fun!  Our concession stand is open during the dance, so students will need money to purchase snacks, pizza, and drinks.

Feel free to chaperone a dance if you would like, or come help us decorate.  To help out, contact Bonneproofs@sbcglobal.net and we will put you in touch with the dance chairpersons.  Help is also needed all this week selling tickets during the day.  If you can help, please let me know.

Also...if time allows, join us for the Parent Summit on Saturday at the Performing Arts Center near McNeil at 8am.  This all-day FREE conference for parents offers many resources on parenting, special education, college planning and more.  Don't miss it! Lunch is provided.  Although online registration is closed, you may still register onsite that morning.  Email bonne_sandars@roundrockisd.org if you need more information.  Students whose parents attend can earn a "homework pass" where they may turn in homework one day late with no penalty.  (Parents must get proof of attendance at the information booth at the conference before they leave so students may have the pass).

Hope to see you Friday or Saturday!

Please note that Open House has been changed to the 16th!  Our PTA meeting will also be that evening.  Mark your calendars and plan to attend.  I apologize for the confusion on the conflicting dates.

    ARE YOU A TAG PARENT?
We've had a glitch with the yahoogroup that I am trying to work out.  We do still have a Meet and Greet for the 14th at 6:45.  Hope to see you there so we can meet one another and assist in helping our students with maximizing their TAG experiences.

Please also make note of a great upcoming event.

Our annual Parent Summit will be on the 26th at McNeil at the Performing Arts Center  from 8am to 4pm. This exciting FREE conference is for parents about parenting.  Over 40 workshops are offered on subjects dealing with all ages of students.  Lunch and a continental breakfast is provided for free also.  To register, go to the roundrockisd.org website and scroll down to the bottom to the Parent Summit link.  Childcare is available on a first-come, first-registered basis.  Translation and transportation is also available when you register.  AND.....parents who attend from Hopewell should get an attendance form from the Information Booth at the Parent Summit.  Your student can turn that in to get a free "HOMEWORK PASS" which allows them to turn in an assignment one day late with no penalty!!  So register today.  The deadline to register ONLINE is the 18th.  After that, you can still attend, but will need to register at McNeil on the 26th at 8am.

    DID SOMEONE SAY DANCE?
Why, yes, we did!  Our first dance will be held on the 25th.  WATCH HERE FOR MORE DETAILS!

And....if you returned a volunteer form, you should be hearing from us in the next weeks.  We are doing data entering and our Helper Hive will be up and running ASAP.

    Until next time...
