After
meeting with all of the PFLEX students at Dessau Elementary and
Brookhollow Elementary, I am feeling very positively about the year.
The students are a lot of fun and a very lively and interesting bunch,
and after the first two weeks of team-building activities and Renzulli
registration and interest surveys, they are ready to take off in their
own directions. There are writers, mathematicians, engineers,
scientists, playwrights, movie directors, artists, TV producers,
fashion designers, meteorologists, actors and actresses, sculptors, and
more in my classes. They are problem-solvers and creative thinkers.
They see the possibilities in the world, and want to get started NOW!
We will be working on Instant Challenges that are similar to
Destination Imagination activities, along with learning about Egypt,
introducing Math Pentathlon, and working on individual projects, like
writing a fashion article or making a movie or creating math puzzles.
Ask your child about Renzulli, and if you have internet access at home,
your child can use Renzulli at home. They need to go to the PISD
webpage (
www.pflugervilleisd.net),
look under Students, click on Renzulli Learning, click on STUDENTS in
the orange box, and login (most of the students use their student
number as both user name and password for login). Students can look at
their Enrichment Activities and find websites, virtual field trips,
games, information, and fun activities that connect to their interests.
