My name is Gayle Little and I will be your child's second grade
teacher. This is my tenth year at Bishop School, but my twelvth year in
Sunnyvale. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things
about myself.
I was born, raised, and educated in San Jose. I studied at West Valley
College and then transferred to San Jose State University where I received
my Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies and my Clear Teaching Credential.
Since completing my education, I have substituted in grades kindergarten
through eight on a day-to-day and long term basis. I have taught music to
third and fouth grades as a prep teacher, and I have taught reading to first
and second graders in a special reading program. During my first two years
in Sunnyvale, I taught sixth grade at Columbia Middle School. My first year
at Bishop, I taught a fourth and fifth combination class. For the last nine
years I have taught straight fourth grade classes. I am very excited to
join the second grade team at Bishop this year. In my free time I enjoy
spending time with my family, going to tea with my friends, camping, house
boating, going to Disneyland, and traveling. I enjoy reading and collecting
children's literature, too.
I am looking forward to getting to know each of my students. I will be
assessing their individual levels in the basic skills. I believe strongly
in working closely with a child's parents or guardians. Please feel free to
write or call me if you have a concern. I also like to hear when something
has gone well for your child!
It is going to be a great year!
My mission for our class is for every student to be successful in
mastering the California State Standards for second grade. (Visit the Links
Page on this website to view the second grade standards) I hope that each
student will develop self confidence and enjoy their time in second
grade. I want our classroom to be a safe, supportive, peaceful, and happy
place. It will be a place where students work hard, respect each other, and
learn to be responsible for themselves.
