Homework

HOMEWORK POLICY

Homework is assigned nightly and, unless otherwise specified, is due the
following day. Expect your child to have about an hour of homework Monday-
Thursday. Students will copy their homework assignments into their daily
planner at the end of each school day.
All homework is kept in a blue folder with their name on it.

Planners must be signed by parents or guardians by Friday. Please use this
time to inspect that your child is writing down all of the assignments.

On the first day of school, each student picked 3 “study buddies” who they
may call if they do not have or understand the assignment. The study buddy
sheet should be kept in the blue homework folder. This way there is no
excuse for not having the homework assignments! Students who do not
complete their homework will be given an opportunity to finish their
assignments on the red benches outside of Room 21 during recess. During
this time students will also be able to eat their snack and use the restroom.

Completion of nightly homework assignments is crucial to the success of your
child!
It is important that your child has a consistent place to do their
homework. This place should be quiet and free of distractions. Good places
to do homework are the library, on a desk at home or a kitchen table. Set
up a routine for your child in which they complete their homework in the
same place and the same time daily.

Please ask your children to SHOW you their homework, so you may check it for
completeness. Homework is graded for neatness and completeness and is
considered for part of your child’s effort grade on the report card.

Supplies that are helpful to have at home:
•	Sharpened pencils
•	Binder paper
•	Crayons/markers
•	Dictionary
•	Books
•	Flashcards

Students missing school due to an excused absence will have 2 days to
complete their missed assignments. Upon return from an absence, students
may look at the class planner to see which assignments they missed.

I understand that 4th grade is a big transition for students, therfore, if
your child has a hard time with the homework and needs additional help at
school in order to complete it please send in a note and I will give them
additional time and help.
