We are preparing for our Student of the Month Program in May.  We are memorizing the 
states and their capitals in a fun song called, "Wakko's America".  We have begun a song 
from Haiti called, "Hoe a Te Vaka" that is incredibly rhythmic and fun.
Bishop Students in grade 5 are doing an exciting African-Caribbean Drumming program 
that teaches them how to play various rhythms,  to concentrate, to listen, and how to play 
and appreciate complex music from other cultures.  

 We have begun to play more complex rhythms in our drumming sessions.  To date, a 
couple of classes have been able to play "in the groove" with 4 and 5 different rhythms 
performed at the same time.  This is an incredible feat of cooperation, listening,  and 
concentration not to mention musical abilities!  We are going to have an exciting program 
for you in the spring.
