I have been teaching music for 20 years. I began teaching in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania while I was
still in graduate school. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music and a Master's Degree in Fine Arts/
Music. Before starting my own family, I was an orchestral flutist touring both the US and Europe,
recording for the Disney Channel and teaching people of all ages.
I live in Sunnyvale with my husband, three children, 2 cats, and numerous aquariums! When I am not
teaching I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, cooking, playing flute and piano, playing
with digital music and my Mac, exercising and running.
In addition to teaching at Bishop, I also teach grades Junior Kindergarten through Grade 5 at
Resurrection School, I am on the faculty of the Community School of Music and Art where I currently
conduct an adult flute choir and I also have a home music studio where I teach private flute and
piano lessons. I love music and thoroughly enjoy teaching. My students range in age from 4 to 70!
Music is critical to childhood development. Here at Bishop we are committed to educating the whole
child. Following the National Standards for Music, our music classes cover many topics. Bishop
students are exposed to singing, playing classroom instruments, reading music notation, listening to
music of many time periods and cultures, and giving live performances.
